    Snacking Help!!!!

I'm no stranger to the LE diet, but I'm in need of some late afternoon help! Let me give some of you a little background.

I am currently nursing my 4 month old on demand during the day (about every 4 hours) and once overnight between 1:00am-3:00am. I eat 1700-1900 calories, 60g protein, and 40-50g fat while keeping saturated fat low.

I can easily have an overnight fast of 12-16 hours before eating breakfast and I can easily wait to eat lunch, but I have a hard time waiting to have dinner. I've tried spacing the amount of time between meals and the distribution of calories. Nothing works!

How I've been coping is slowly reducing what I eat for the snack. I'm hoping by doing this, I can eventually do away with it. I make sure to snack on carbs only during this time. I now leave fruit and free veggies out so I grab those instead of something more calorie dense, unless I'm craving something specific (rare).

I also think maybe I need it since I'm nursing quite a bit still.

I would love some insight! Thanks so much!

First I'd try eating more at lunch- make it your biggest meal, with most protein, fat, cals and VOLUME (so add lowcal veggies, rice cakes, popcorn if you don't feel full). I also suggest eating lunch later, if possible.

If that doesn't work, I would add a small 4th meal at the time you're hungriest. It should be high protein and high volume. Maybe a fat free smoothie made with whey protein, skim milk, melon and strawberries? That's just one idea off the top of my head.

I want you to add in a 4th meal in this scenario. I know the concerns but I find that it is much better to just add in the 4th meal, than to try to whiteknuckle it through eating nothing and end up pigging out at dinner anyway.

in this situation I think fruit or veg is going to satisfy the munchies and will burn off quick anyway.

Sprinkle cinnamon on your food it curbs snacking and keeps your blood sugar low that's how I got my DD

I don't just want everyone using cinnamon though. I know it seems harmless, it's just cinnamon, but in more than just a sprinkle a day it can really lower blood sugar A LOT and when you're on LE Diet anyway, it may end up making you lose too much weight or even get faint from low blood sugar.

Plus, cassia cinnamon, or the one you can easily get at your grocery store, has higher amounts of Coumarin (blood thinner) compared to Ceylon cinnamon, or bakers/baking cinnamon. Both lower blood sugar in 1/8-1/4 teaspoon amounts daily.

    Snacking Help!!!!

I wanted to update this thread and say I haven't had to have a 4th small meal/snack in a few days. I've pushed back when I eat lunch and dispersed more calories to lunch and that has helped!

I also found that while breastfeeding quite a bit, I've had to eat more calories than I thought in order to lose weight. I had plateaued for quite sometime and exercising wasn't helping either. When I added a measly 200-300 more calories, BAM!- I lost 6lbs just like that!

Anyone reading who is breastfeeding a lot but not around the clock, may need to eat more that what you think to lose weight with exercise! I now eat 1800-2000cals a day. It seems like a lot, but with 60-70min of cardio daily AND nursing every 3-4 hours during the day and once overnight, I need to in order for my body to think its ok to lose weight. My fertility hasn't suffered. I got my first period this month and ovulated the previous month without a period, which was confirmed via US for other reasons.

Thanks for everyone's input- I greatly appreciate it!
