I was the same even though I have to inject my son because he has diabetes. When it came to myself I just contact do it. I got the nurse to do the 1st one and it really didn't hurt. So I could do it myself. I did chicken out on a couple of attempts but slowly inserting the needle it doesn't hurt and does not bruise either

MaidentoMother, why do you think Femara is great for a pink sway? I noticed it's not in the stats like Clomid is so it's hard to gauge how "pink" it is.

Femara works in exactly the same way as Clomid but is more potent and effective. In recent studies comparing its use to Clomid in women with PCOS, those on Femara had even more girls thsn those on Clomid. Everything indicates it is likely at least as pink as Clomid if not pinker. However, it is technically off label when used for fertility, and a much newer drug than Clomid, thus why drs often won't prescribe it or only if Clomid doesn't work. And bc it is harder to get/used less it hasn't been put in the stats. But it should be, or combined eith Clomid, especially as we've had more and more pink swayers using it over time, and most if not all getting girls.
Femara is also better for pink swayers bc unlike Clomid, which one should only take for 6 cycles max and ideally not all in a row, Femara can be safely used indefinitely, cycle after cycle. The lowest dose of Femara, 2.5mg, has better odds of conception than the equivalent 50mg Clomid, too.
It is significantly more expensive than Clomid, that is the only con.Last edited by maidentomother; April 8th, 2016 at 05:08 PM.
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP
TTC #1- swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!
Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic
Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

Much cheaper thsn injections still! Femara is a relatively cheap fertility treatment overall, just not DIRT cheap like Clomid.

Thank you so much Maiden! I searched for Femara in the girl sways and 5 out of the 6 ladies that used it got girls (including one that had boy/girl twins). Too bad more pink swayers aren't using it so we can get a better idea of how it compares to Clomid. Do you know if it has the same side effects that Clomid does (like mood swings, hot flashes, no CM etc)?

It has no or very mild side effects. That's a big part of why it's so much better than Clomid. It also doesn't cause cysts or thin the uterine lining or dry up CM. The ONLY reason to ever use Clomid over Femara is if you want multiple eggs/twins. Femara has a low incidence of multiples, much lower than Clomid. Or if you are trying to save $35. I think it's ridiculous that Femara isn't used instead of Clomid.

Congrats Princess Mom and afrevert23!!
I had my GP appointment today and had to explain everything that happened as they had the discharge summary from the hospital in a big pile waiting to be filed (they found it after I explained the miscarriage to my dr). It set me off emotionally though as I went in expecting her to know!
She didn't have any details about the pathology report from when they sent the sac/fetus away for testing, I don't know what they were testing for as they wouldn't do genetic testing after only 2 consecutive miscarriages but I sill want to know if it picks up anything else.
My Dr wants me to go back to the fertility specialist before trying again in case he thinks I need progesterone support or something else. I guess he might then put me on clomid but I would probably have to wait a few months before that happens.
Now I'm not sure if I should avoid getting pregnant, I was told to wait 2 cycles but that seems to just be what everyone gets told for no real reason. I not planning on trying too hard (no charting or opks) but I'm just going to keep up BDing every 3-4 days. I haven't ovulated yet but I'm not expecting to for another week based on my other two miscarriages.
