So hubby and I have decided to go for no 3 this summer/fall and I have been having some conversations with a few close friends about it. ( I guess I'm kinda open about my life with certain people.) and I have been getting a lot of negative responses from people. Like " I don't believe that stuff." or " You're going to end up with 3 girls!" I thought these people were close enough that I could share that, but I am kinda hurt by the responses. Did you keep it a secret? How did you respond to the comments? I am thinking we will love our child no matter what, but if I can have a chance to have a boy if a do some tweaks then why not? Its kinda bugging me now...![]()

Have you kept your sway secret?

I've told my sister, SIL and best friend (I'm TTC girl). They have all been really supportive luckily and when I explained the science behind it, they were really amazed and completely understood. I'm hesitant to tell anyone else though mainly b/c I don't want to hear "I told you so" comments if it doesn't happen to work for me. I also don't want comments in general, haha. I feel like a lot of people I talk to (not about swaying, just babies in general), don't seem to understand my desire. These are usually people with boy/girl families so I feel as though they just don't "get it" b/c they haven't lived it.
I don't understand the negative comments either. Lots of people talk about Shettles like it's nothing but as soon as you bring something a little more robust into it, they think you're crazy. Of course, people already think I'm crazy for wanting 5 kids, lol.Mama to four sweet boys

I get you. I wanted to explain more, but the subject kinda moved one. I also find that people have interesting reactions to family size. My hubs is one of 7 and we plan on this one being our last at 3. I am surprised how many people seem to have an opinion about that!

Same! I won't be telling anyone besides my sister and mum as they understand and are supportive. My mum had gggb so after looking at her life style with us girls and then my brother she agrees with everything I've told her that I've found out on here!
Totally get the shettles thing! Omg if one more person tells me to dtd 4 days before ov as that's guaranteed and scientifically proven I might just scream! Lol! But yes if I went with true scientifically proven facts they'd look at me like I'd grown 3 heads! Sometimes it's easier to nod and agree and if my sway is successful when my time comes I'll be screaming my sway from the rooftops! But yes until then I won't as likewise industry not want to hear told you so!!!!gorgeous DS1
gorgeous DS2
Praying and hopefully soon swaying for a precious pink princess to further complete our family

I am super close to my mum and my sister, but have not told them anything about it!!
My sister has two boys and is totally happy with that. Would almost be scared to offend her!!
My mum had a son and two daughters, I don't think she gets the desire for something that happened so naturally for her.
Husband is 100% behind me, thank goodness!!! X

Only my husband, therapist and best friend know about my desire AND swaying-- and I plan to keep it that way! I'm honestly embarrassed about it in many ways!

Lol I hear you on the Shettles thing, I don't even bother trying to correct most people now.
We swayed girl (secretly) and have recently found out we are pregnant. I'm not even telling anyone we are pregnant until I find out what the gender is because I don't want the comments "oh you must be hoping for a girl!" etc. So we will announce our pregnancy and gender (if it's a boy, if it's girl we will keep that surprise to ourselves) "we are pregnant and it's a boy!!" which will hopefully stop people from making rude comments that hurt us. Sounds complicated when I read that back but it makes sense in my head lol!

I swayed for this baby and didn't tell anyone (besides my husband!). I feel like it is a bit of a taboo subject and like jennypenny says I wouldn't want to offend anyone with all boys in my family (even though they to are completely happy!) I also feel that if it doesn't work there will be a bit of 'see you were just being silly and you can't fight nature' backlash. I might say something if it does by chance work. At at the end of the day I find it a bit awkward talking about my sex life and such things (even though swaying is more then this, I'm sure the conversation would turn to this!) that's why I love this site, it's the only place I can talk opening about this subject

I told everyone about my first sway and to get an opposite was so hard to deal with, especially from those less supportive. I told no-one except a very close friend second time around and won't tell either despite getting my DD.
Three beautiful boys and my longed-for DD due in June 2016!2007

I have found that it's best not to talk about it to anyone. People get their jollies off of raining on other people's parades and told me "I couldn't make girls" and all the rest of it even from people who I thought should be more supportive. Even to the point of rolling their eyes and stuff. And even still to this day, even though I have done this as a job for 5 years and have people coming from around the world to ask me questions, they're still dismissive. I just don't talk about it to anyone outside of this little world.
Bommy I did want to ask you about your questionnaire, I got your user name mixed up with someone else with a similar user name, I do not think I have your questionnaire and the plan I made that I thought was yours was someone elses. If you fill out the sway questionnarie I'll bump you to the top of the list, I'm so sorry for the confusion!!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
