Hi girls,
I recently read that Sudafed is not safe to take and Zyrtec/Benadryl is recommended to dry up CM instead.
Can I use it just like Sudafed 1 or 2 hours before dtd?
Wouldn't it be safe to take only one Sudafed tablet either?
Also, I found some medication for sleep disorders containing 25 mg of Diphenhydramine hydrochloride (like Benadryl) – could I use it instead?

Any antihistamine is fine, including that diphenhydramine.
I personally think a single dose of Sudafed is fine to take, if you're not on any supps or meds, and it dries out my CM so much more thsn anything else.
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP
TTC #1- swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!
Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic
Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

Thank you maidentomother
I'm taking thyroid meds (hypo), cranberry and a small dose of calcium/magnesium. What do you think?

No Sudafed on cranberry. If you drop the cranberry, then it's fine.

Can we just keep it simple and NOT use Sudafed? It just makes it easier for everyone instead of saying oh this is ok at one dose or whatever and we'll end up with people adding it to antihistamine.
Most thyroid patients are told not to use it, anyway. (and actually are also told not to use antihistamine, but we have seen good tolerance with Zyrtec as rescue method only).
So, my advice is, do not use Sudafed. Set it aside or you can give one to your husband as long as it is ok for him to take (it's not ok for all people) and do just ONE Zyrtec 6 hours before planned attempt.
I would not use diphenhydramine for you.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
