I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what is the bEst thing to do. Is 1 attempt with abstinence or fr better than Dtd e4d? Also if doing the e4d option does dh have to release every other day?
Thank u

E4D or 1 attempt?

I think 1 attempt is only slightly better but I believe E4D is a newer theory so it might not have enough data to say it's better.
I don't think it matters what DH does in the E4D pattern. Same with 1 attempt, he can release on his own whenever he likes or with you using protection. I'm pretty sure neither abstinence nor frequent release sways.Mama to four sweet boys

E4D or 1 attempt?
E4D is essentially like having one attempt in your fertile window, and takes place of using opks. This is nice if opks stress you out too much, or if you have a DH who likes to BD frequently. This method is good for DH's who don't want to or cannot be involved in a sway.

If you're young, have conceived easily and quickly before, and OPKs work for you, I'd start with 1 attempt. E4D is a much newer tactic and may not be as effective for pink for all couples. 1 attempt is still the default, most pink friendly option.
What DH does outside of the 1 attempt or E4D doesn't seem to matter. I'd let him do what he likes, or you can have sex with a condom. I wouldn't recommend abstinence, however.
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP
TTC #1- swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!
Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic
Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

Hi girls
Thanks for your replies. This is my 3rd month ttc. I have 3 boys that i have gotten pg with very quick. I also had 3 misscarraiges in the past year. I am very surprised im not pg by now tbh as my dh usually just has to look at me and i get pg!! lol. maybe its the diet and everything else. This cycle my period didnt arrive until day 30 and im usually bang on 28 so that was strange. I will stick with the 1 attempt again this time and see how it goes.

Given all that, I'd actually switch to E4D. Especially as you may be Oing later than you think and missing O. Whenever cycles start acting strangely, I recommend E4D. Plus you are older and have been TTC a few cycles without success.
I really hope it does the trick for you!

They cannot be compared because two different groups of people use them.
1 attempt with abstain is exclusively in couples that are highly fertile and the husband is under 35.
FR with one attempt is in couples that are highly fertile and hsuband is over 35 and/or can't stick with abstain.
e4d is used by couples that have been TTC a long time, husbands are older than 40ish/low sperm health or count, have overall fertility challenges, etc.
These three groups are doing LOTS of stuff different, not only frequency, so it's really impossible to compare.
DH does NOT need to release every other day when doing e4d, you just have him do attempts!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

great point!!! If your ovulation is going kooky, that's a very good reason for switching to e4d. If you BD when you think you should have (especially if going for a cutoff), and then didn't O for 2 more days after that, you may not have had any chance at all at conception!!

Ok thanks maiden and atomic. So we should probably do the e4d as ovulation isn't known exactly. Even though dh is only 37 and I'm 36 and we haven't been trying for a long time as such. We have had 3 loses in the last year but only started swaying since the beginning of this year. I'm also doing diet and taking folic acid, Vitex and fiber. Dh was taking ole but it gave him such a sick stomach he had to stop.
