Am very upset with my sway attempt, have been up since 4am thinking about it

I feel so disappointed in my sway attempt I am making myself feel sick. I was so excited with my BFP on Friday but have now started thinking about how my sway was nothing like I planned. I haven't needed antibiotics for years and took them in the days leading up to the attempt. I am very sad that I put so much effort into my diet for many months and feel that I really stuffed things up trying for pregnancy just after finishing antibiotics. Atomic said that she doesn't believe antibiotics sway, but I haven't found one person who swayed girl after taking antibiotics and I can't shake this feeling that having a girl is near impossible for me now. I didn't take antihistamine for the attempt like I was supposed to, only aspirin because I had it on hand. I think I may need to book in to see a psychologist as I really feel terrible. In the months leading up to my attempts I came to feel at peace about whether I had a boy or girl as I felt I was doing everything I could manage for my sway. I love my little boy so much and know I will feel the same about my next child. My problem now is that I will feel totally to blame if the sway doesn't work out. I'm sorry, I realise I probably sound like a crazy person. I haven't had much sleep! This isn't like me at all. I realise how lucky I am. I have a friend who has done more than 10 IVF treatments and would kill to get pregnant as easily as me. I'm not looking for sympathy, just tips on how to get myself out of this crazy state!

You don't sound crazy at all. I was elated to get my BFP as well, then started to go back over my sway and tormenting myself on things I should have/shouldn't have done, but honestly I've seen the best, most planned and strict sways result in opposites and really lightweight ones work. Even without swaying you still have a good chance of having a girl, nothing is a given and it certainly isn't your fault whether it works or not. And those pregnancy hormones really don't help how you are probably feeling. Will you find out the sex?

Both illness and antibiotics sway pink IMO; there is absolutely NO research suggesting ABs sway blue. I know tons of ladies who conceived girls while taking ABs.

The internet isn't always a good source of info. Oftentimes it only contains one or two snippets of info that have been copied and pasted (or just rephrased/paraphrased) on numerous sites, which makes it seem like truth when really it's just an anecdote that's been parroted.

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

You could have had the most perfect sway in the history of the site and still get a boy. You could have a sway just based on one attempt without even trying diet and get a girl.

I would think that IF antibiotics sway at all (big if), they should sway pink because they kill good gut flora and make it harder to maximize nutrition absorbed from your food. The antihistimine is one of the first tactics people are advised to drop because its impact is minor. I think you had a great sway and doing any more wouldn't have helped you. Atomic has said that there seems to be a ceiling of about 75% success for girl sways where at a certain point you just can't improve your odds so adding extra, nitpicky tactics is pointless and may even hurt.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate the time you put in to reply :-) I feel a bit better about things than I did when I wrote this post. It is a funny feeling trying to control something that you can't really control.

Oh by the way I think I will find out the sex - probably will do the harmony test even thought it's a bit pricey. Last pregnancy I was told the wrong sex at the 13 week ultrasound so I don't want to risk that again! From weeks 13 - 18 I thought I was having a girl. On the other hand, sometimes I think it is better to wait for the birth to find out the sex. Once you have the baby in your arms you fall instantly in love. When you find out the sex before the birth that is all you know about the baby as you haven't met him or her yet!

Skippy it's soo hard....we put so much effort into it all....agree with all comments above...after all we do have to leave it up to the gods.....all the best for pink dust....and we can never have a perfect sway.....it's impossible , I am sure a bit of luck is always needed to get what we want...

Those early preggo hormones are killers sometimes aren't they???

It is 100% normal to suddenly secondguess everything once that BFP shows up.
