I'm a germ-a-phobe lol so anything I buy, used or otherwise get's thrown in hot wash immediately. And I wouldn't buy a used car seat from a total stranger but from someone I trust heck yes! I actually just sold $135 worth of adorable baby boy clothes to some moms that I obviously won't be needing anymore..we have a little network in my area and it's fabulous. Financially it just makes sense..even if we could afford everything brand new I'm not 100% sure I would..waste not want not and such. LOL

Oh, yeah! My rules are completely different from ppl I know and trust as well! I would absolutely accept a car seat from someone I know as long as it's still in good shape and hasn't been in an accident. I'd also accept used *baby* shoes from someone I know (once they get older I am more particular about things like shoes, bathing suits, underwear, etc. given they are used more by older kids and less likely to still be in really good shape), possibly even bottles if they are in good shape. I'm still kind of a prude about pumps though... even if I know the person. That it something I have to have new. I still have my pump from when I had my youngest and will still be getting a new one because who knows what germs have grown and such in the last 6 years! Eewww!

On another note, had an appt with my regular OB today. He didn't do an u/s since I just had one at the high risk specialist's office but he did measure my fundus and listen to baby. My fundal height measured 25 weeks... still ahead of the game so it looks like we are going to be expecting another 8+ pounder. Just praying she isn't bigger than her brothers were.. esp my youngest (9lbs 3oz).... if she ends up bigger than he was we may have issues with growth restriction.... or at the very least an extremely uncomfortable momma!

    Hi everyone

We both took aspirine and cetrizine.
Low fat, skip breakfast, eggs, not extreme diet but quite selective.
Dh hot showers before attempts (accid shower gel)
I took hot lavender showers after attempts.
7 day abstinence. We bd on sunday and monday. Used opk. Ovulation was wednesday night or thursday morning.
Also used sylk and dump and jump!
I hope the us at 13 weeks pregnancy was too early

My baby, sorry you are struggling with gender disappointment. It is very common tho and what you are feeling is valid.

As for second hand stuff, I must be the odd one out because I am not even slightly worried about germs. They say that the germ phobia is contributing to major diseases like leukemia because some people sanitize way too much. That wouldn't be me tho. My kids get dirty and play in the mud. The touch dogs and chooks and if they drop their food they pick it up and eat it even if it has hit the floor. They rarely get sick, but if they do, they get over it quickly. I am probably just a super lazy mum, lol! But it really doesn't bother me at all. I choose to buy stuff new at times because I like pretty things, not because I worry about germs. Maybe because I'm a nurse and I have always had to be near and touch all sorts of stuff that I'm not scared of germs? I think it is better for bodies to learn how to fight disease. I caught everything my first few years in emergency and then I started to not get sick at all. Still, every baby, I like to have a few new things for. As a middle child I appreciate how children notice things like that and I do my best to make sure they all get a mix of new and used. That said, I still wouldn't give a used dummy(binki?) to a child. But pretty much everything else I'm easy.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this disappointment. I wish all of us could have our dream gender. FWIW at 13 weeks everything is still very swollen and not completely formed so it is possible that it's just too soon to tell for sure. That being said, you know you did everything u could and if bean does end up being a boy then it was just meant to be. There are, unfortunately, no guarantees with swaying. I hope that after you let yourself grieve you can come to be happy for your blue blessing. (((Hugs)))

I am less of a germaphobe than a bug-aphobe. Bed bugs are on the rise in my area and the whole idea scares the bejeezus out of me, also there is lice which I don't care to deal with as I have issues with the shampoos meant to kill them and I can't just buzz my head like the boys, so I am careful to kill anything that might have tried to hitch a ride. I am a germaphobe to a degree when it comes to newborns- like instances previously mentioned as well as a rule we have always had not to take the baby out into public places until they have had their first set of vaccines but I am not a major germ freak typically... just more protective of newborns given their immature immune systems. After around 6 weeks they have had their first vaccines as well as 6 weeks of immune boosting benifits from nursing so at that point I loosen the reigns slowly to allow them to begin developing some of their own immunities to common illnesses. They do get some exposure even before then given the others in the household get exposure and sometimes get colds and such and bring them home. I just prefer to guard against the germ factories that are retail and grocery stores.
