    Driving Myself Craaazy

Ladies! I am about 6 weeks into my surprise 4th pregnancy (I have three boys) and totally obsessing and making myself crazy! It's like I can't help but read and research on every possible gender sign. The Ramzi thing is really flipping me out. I go for my first ultrasound in 6 days and just know I will see what I have seen for the other three- a boy on the right side ovulated from my right ovary. I am positive I geared up to ovulate early May on my left side as I can feel the pain on either side....but it was delayed 10 days and voila I am pregnant. I had no pains, no signs that I was even ovulating when conception happened, so guessing there was zero cut off (I know that is not reliable but all three boys were conceived right on O day).

The last few days I have had pains on my right side, twinges, as if that was the ovary that ovulated. And I have been feeling doomed that it was the right ovary, right implantation and a boy. This is my last shot at a girl...which I have wanted for all four pregnancies. I love my boys so much, but I just want one daughter. Thanks for listening, I have found this board to be such a comfort.

You can't tell side of ovulation from O pain and you realy, really cannot tell implantation from one sided pain. Your uterus undergoes massive changes in early pregnancy and it's super common to have sharp pains on one side or another.

I've seen Dr. Ramzi guess on peopel's ultrasounds for $10 and guess them wrong.

Thanks, Atomic! I really appreciate how you respond to our posts. I have been researching some of your responses on the left vs. right threads. It seems you do think that left ovaries result in more girls (all my boys were right ovulations, actually early by a few days)- but that it could be secondary as to why that happens? As I understand it, the right ovary is the dominant ovary in most women..therefore if the left is ovulating then that is a sign that possible the body isn't in ideal shape (which is also the reason I think I ovulated late despite typically Oing like clockwork, due to illness and stress) and that is why the "backup" ovary came into play? Is that correct? Thank you.

Yes, but I wouldn't hang my hat on it. We've had enough exceptions that I do not think it can really be relied upon - and absolutely, certanly, completely and totally NOT on the basis of O pain.

Awesome, thank you! Do you believe that high HCG often equals girl or is that not reliable?

It's an average, like height. on average men are taller than women, but that does not then mean you can look at the height of one person in isolation and have that number alone tell you if a person is a boy or a girl. You could have Danny De Vito or Janet Reno, or Michael J Fox and Brienne of Tarth. So while studies have shown that on average HCG levels in female pregnancies are higher, it's an AVERAGE with most pregnancies, male and female, falliing into an average mid-range and even on the extremes it does NOT tell you the gender of your baby. you could be pregnant with the HCG equivalent of Tom Cruise or Rebecca Romijn.

me too. With my son I had literally just gotten off AF the day before. We were young and super human then. My DD was late at night on O-1/O Day.
