    Retroverted uterus, any recommended positions?

So, after 9 months ttc, my husband and I had an appointment at the fertility clinic.

In my internal scan everything appeared fine (no cysts or polyps) however, she did mention my retroverted uterus. Apparently, my uterus lies backwards and my cervix is difficult to find (as I discovered at my last smear test ouch!) My husband will have his seven analysed next (he is mortified)

I got pregnant very quickly both times I conceived my sons, so I am wondering if this is something that has gotten worse since my last son was born.

Does anybody know of any tips or positions that may help the little swimmers find my mysterious, loner of a cervix?

I am no expert.. but I recently saw a video that suggests doggy style is the best way to get pregnant with a retro retroverted uterus. As well as laying on your stomach after instead of lifting legs
To help sperm get there 😊

Good luck! The video also said that usually the best position is the one that is most uncomfortable for you! So try different ones out maybe?

Going to look on YouTube for this video now

I know what you mean though, I definitely took it for granted when I conceived my boys. It didn't even occur to me that I would have issues this time!

We used to joke that my youngest Son had trashed the place on the way out, so he wouldn't have any younger siblings. I'm now wondering if we were right!

Hi jennypenny, I found out within the last few weeks (having early ultrasounds due to spotting which lead to a miscarriage) that I have a very retroverted uterus. This is the first time anyone has ever mentioned it to me so I think mine happened since the birth of my last son. (I have 4 boys) I'm in the UK too x

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage, such an awful thing to go through.

From what I have read, it can happen after childbirth as ligaments loosen and the uterus changes position.

I am going to try some exercises that r on YouTube that can apparently help reposition it. Worth a shot anyway? Xxx

Retroverted uterus should not reduce your chances of conception. It's a natural variation that about 50% of women have and is believed to be totally normal. It can make it harder to find your cervix for paps and exams and stuff, but it does NOT cause or contribute to infertility. I have one too that is severely retrograde.

Please do not stand on your head (unless that is your idea of fun haha) because it's just your body's natural "geography".

What some of us have found is that laying on our tummies for about 5-15 minutes after sex can help the sperm meet egg. It may be (hypothetically, theoretically, not proven!!!) that with swaying and less EWCM than normal, it may be a teensy bit harder for sperm to find their way into the cervix than normal. I'd just give that a try!

Having a female O can help too. It may make your cervix a little more open than it would be otherwise, so try that as well.

    Dog style for this situation.
Also, I got pregnant first attempt with my boy and 6 months it took with my girl. In the end, I thought the position is the issue and I solved this by applying same position I got pregnant with my boy. Lucky or not, I got pregnant that month
