Thread: Maybe TMI....

    Maybe TMI....

...and DH probably would be mortified if he knew I was writing all this. But I have a semen question. I have been "helping" DH release every 2 days since I have AF. Last night, there wasn't much there in terms of volume when he finished. I have no idea about sperm count, but actual semen wasn't very much. In the past I have noticed it vary from time to time, but usually he releases on his own a lot, so I always guessed that was why he occasionally seemed "empty". Well, he swears up and down that he hasn't touched himself at all, so why after 2 days would there be such a little amount in there?

We are just a week away from our attempt, so I am starting to panic! Is there something he should be doing/not doing to increase the amount of semen in there?

ive seen this happen in my dh too yrs ago. but we were doing it quite often and i was also helping him. i also found that if i was releasing him every day or every other day id be shocked ot find such a small amount (even with a big orgasm!)

thats a VERY interesting question and also why i had been debating between 3 or 4 days of sex/release.
i would THINK if your dh has normal sperm count, that the amount of semen woudnt matter, about the same about of sperm is still there. semen is just a means for sperm to travel.

maybe release just every 3 days (if you have enough time before attempt) and see if the semen increases.
    good question!

Between 2-5ml is normal so it's really not a big amount. Make sure he is drinking plenty of fluids.

Count isn't necessarily related to the amount of fluid.

I have found DH has more fluid if he holds off for 3-4 days.

YEP! My DH gave a 5ml sample, and it had hardly any sperm in it.

don't worry hobber not tmi! And just like the others said about semen and sperm. A man can have lot's of semen and low sperm in it or the same amount in 5ml and in 2 ml you know.
DH also have less if we wait only 1 or 2 days and more after 3-4. so this cycle we waited 3 days to dtd and then again on next day.

I echo what everyone already said, a) some shots are just weird like that and b) it isn't indicative of how much sperm is in there anyway (which is why guys that have vasectomies still --- even tho they are not producing sperm.)

Venturing even farther into TMI land but my DH has said sometimes that when the "finish" isn't very good, less seems to come out. So I would say it may have just been one of those things and he might have been a bit dehydrated.
