Thread: Timing!

  1. #1

    Timing!

My turn to ask about timing. I know I have asked about this on other threads, but I am still trying to formulate a plan.

I have been helping DH release every 2-3 days. Once AF is gone (I am on CD4 today) we will BD probably once (with a condom), then he will have to save up his swimmers for 3-4 days before we start actually trying.

I get 24 hrs of +opks. Last two cycles I have gotten my first +opk on CD11, and O on CD13.

Should we BD on CD11, after the +opk, and then again on CD12? I don't know when on CD13 I will O, so I am not sure I want to skip CD12, because if we wait until CD13, we might miss the egg.

I know BD 2 days in a row is frowned upon, but I think it might be okay? WHat do y'all think??

didnt you and dh dtd every fertile day for a week when you got DS1?
would you be willing to dtd cd10 and then cd 12? can you dtd in the am before work (if its a weekday) on cd 13? or midday? i would defly do it on cd 12 bc like you said you could O on cd13 Am and miss it if you wait till night. boy timing is usually okay 24hrs before O. but if you want to do it twice i really dont think 2 days in a row willbe bad. in retropspect i would have been ok with it or skipped a day cd10 then cd12. whens your attempt??

Yea, what did you do with DS1?
(2002) (2005) from 1st marriage. TTC since Aug 2010- Dx: low sperm count and 1% normal sperm. We are giving up and moving on with a baby-free life.
UPDATE: surprise bfp in Feb 2013! It's a BOY!

DS1 was a "DTD for 6 days in a row when I'm fertile" thing--from what I know now, I am shocked he came out a boy!

My problem is that I am not totally sure that I will O on CD13. That is what has happened for 2 months in a row, but the previous 2 months I O'ed on CD15 and CD16. I am afraid of trying on CD10 and then not getting my +opk on CD11 like I have been. Ugh, this is so hard to decide! It is so much easier to see when you SHOULD HAVE done it in retrospect!

My attempt is sometime next week. I am on CD5 today.

I strongly believe that in order for frequent release to sway pink, it really DOES have to be every day without missing a day for 7-10 days at the very least and pref. more. So DTD two days back to back, does not sway pink at all and to my way of thinking, sways BLUE.

Honestly, I would totally BD on CD 11, CD 12, and maybe even CD 13 in the morning if you felt comfy with that. And of course you'll be doing everything to keep those swimmers alive in there.

This thread makes me smile because on the pink boards people are busting my chops because they're worried that frequent doesn't sway good enough and yet over here people are scared to DTD two days in a row...they can't both be true!! Frequent release HAS to be a LOT of release to sway pink and so if you are doing less than that, esp. something as reasonable as DTD two or three days in a row, no worries, you are totally swaying blue!!!!

Even 6 days in a row isn't reliably pink. It has to be 7-10 days and maybe even more than once a day some days.

That's why I like your plan as it is, waiting for the pos OPK and that way if your body throws a spanner into the works and delays O for some reason, you don't even have to worry about it.

I've been curious to know why the frequency of DTD can help sway?
It only takes one sperm to get pregnant how can it matter how often you DTD ?

Actually it takes many more than one sperm to get pg. Firstly because most of them die on the way to the egg, and secondly because one sperm alone cannot penetrate the eggshell, it takes several working together.

For reasons we don't yet know, things that lower sperm count/quality and lower the numbers of sperm of BOTH genders that survive to make it to the egg, sway pink, and things that raise sperm count/quality and raise the numbers of sperm of BOTH genders that survive to make it to the egg, sway blue. Even though we don't know the mechanism yet, it makes sense to emulate this pattern for swaying.

My personal theory is that the slightly larger size of the X sperm might enable it to penetrate the egg shell with less help, so if there are fewer sperm trying to penetrate the egg, X then gains an advantage. Y are slightly smaller and so it may take more sperm working in concert to enable a Y to penetrate the egg. And swaying helps by improving/drying up CM thereby keeping more sperm alive/killing more off, in addition to possibly creating a thicker/thinner egg shell. But that's just a theory.
