    Nuchal Fold thickness

Hi, I had screening scan and dating scan done today and the nuchal Fold was 2.90mm which is much higher than my last childs at 1.8mm. I know it doesn't point to anything and I haven't had the blood test results yet but I'm worrying about it now. I'm 13+4 weeks and the lady didn't say it was above average or anything and gave me no feedback on the thickness.

I don't even know what the range is here in our area for extra testing etc.

Has anyone had 2.90mm and can tell me the outcome please?

You would have seen other marker most likely if anything was wrong.

She said the brain and skull looked normal and the bladder and stomach could be seen. Just wished I'd have asked at the time what the normal range was etc.

    Nuchal Fold thickness

It most likely is fine. You can't look at one measurement by itself- the crown rump length, Nuchal fold measurement, presence of nasal bones, and your age are all that is factored to determine the risk. 2.9mm is within the normal range but it can't be properly assessed by itself.

I'm sure your little one is just fine! Wen my DS2 had an abnormal reading (couldn't detect the nasal bones and thickness was slightly elevated), the perinatologist met with me before I left the office. As it turned out, having the measurements redone two weeks later with a better machine determined he was fine. If something was abnormal, you would be notified right away!

NT of less than 3.5 is normal, and it's usually only 5-6 mm that is indicative of problems

So glad your little boy was ok xxforhubby but what a worry!!

Thanks everyone, I feel a bit better now, will wait for the proper results, I didn't even give it much thought about the nuchal testing until after it was done
