Feeling shaky, heart beating fast after lunch

Has anyone observed similar symptoms? Since I am on LE diet I eat the first meal of the day at about 12:30 pm. One hour later I start feeling extremely shaky, weak, dizzy and my heartbeat is around 80 bpm even if I'm sitting on the couch, which is quite high for me (normally around 50 bpm when resting). This lasts for roughly another hour or two. After dinner I don't have these symptoms, though the meals look similar (mostly whole grain pasta or whole grain bread with some cheese and vegetables).

Is this normal on the diet or should I see a doctor? DH suggested it's related to low blood sugar, but how can this be only 60 min after a meal? I'm a little afraid this could be a sign of diabetes...

Do you drink a lot of coffee? I know coffee can do this to some including me if I have 2 cups close together!

I drink some coffee, but not much more than before starting the diet. But the symptoms are really similar to what happens when I drink too much coffee...

Maybe skipping breakfast and coffee are causing it? X

Do you take anything before 1230? Coffee tea? Or absolutely nothing till 1230?

It does sound a lot like symptoms of low blood sugar, but I'm not knowledgeable enough as to know why it would be happening an hour after eating. I had this happen before when I wasn't eating enough and had fasted for too long, and it wasn't pleasant.

As for if it's normal on the LE diet - I would not say it is normal if you are feeling unwell, it is not supposed to make us poorly. Are you definitely sticking to the lower limits of the diet as well as the upper limits?

Maybe someone with more experience than me can offer better advice, but I think if I was in your shoes and it was happening regularly then I would check in with my doctor just for peace of mind.

After getting up in the morning and around 10 am I drink 200 ml of 1.5% fat milk with an espresso in it. (I'll try to reduce the milk now as atomic warned me that this could sway blue). That's all until lunch.

At the moment I'm not even following the diet strictly as we won't ttc earlier than january. I try to eat +- 1800 kcal and am monitoring fat and protein to get a feeling for what meals are working for me on the diet. Fat and protein are often above 60g a day (but not much higher).

If I think back I had similar symptoms after lunch when I was pregnant with DS1. Really strange.

Yes it sounds blood sugary to me too and I have a very similar thing happen to me sometimes (mainly when I eat a carby snack before bed and try to sleep.)

Since you are very far out from TTC still I would probably change things up quite a bit to see if there is any combination of things/foods that are causing it.

Are you eating artificial sweetener?? I found that Splenda (sucralose) caused me to have exactly those symptoms when I ate it and I cannot have it at all now it makes me ill.

I also want to be sure you're getting enough potassium, try adding in some vegetable juice or coconut water to see if it helps. NOT fruit juice as I don't want to overcarb you if this is coming from eating too many carbs.
