Always unprotected. The first month of ttc dh would always pull out, but gave me 2 attempts after positive opk (where he didn't pull out). But it was really stupid and that was the agreement we had because he didn't want another baby.
The second month ttc we bd every few days and he never pulled out. Then we got an additional 3 attempts in after positive opk, before returning to every few days. That's the month I concieved. My temps showed I O'd 2 days after opk.

I'm going to attempt my blue sway this time next year and the hardest thing in finding is trying to plan which BD method to use. The unprotected every few days leading up to O seems like the best thing to do for sperm exposure etc so glad to hear it was successful for you!!

I honestly think it was a combination of everything that worked for me because this time around was so, so different from when I concieved my girls. I was very strict on myself with HE diet. I gave up smoking, coffee, alcohol and anti anxiety medication all together. DH and I both started taking supplements and BDing much, much more frequently. I stopping running and stayed weight lifting and doing extra yard work. I was using opks and temping as well. So I honestly can't tell you what it was that worked for me, but my guess would be the drastic change and increase in fertility. ☺
