    HT at 40?

    Hi there,

I am 40 and had my AMH tested a couple of months ago, which was at 10 (average for my age, but shows that my egg supply is not great).
I have 2 gorgeous sons already and have trouble convincing my husband to go for a third child... Time is not on my side obviously, but if he agrees, I am wondering if I should consider PGD or just stick to swaying.
I live overseas where gender selection is not legal so I would have to travel, which takes time and money, and considering my age I think the success rates of IVF are quite depressing.

    Any advice/experience?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I'm in a similar situation to you. I'm 40 also and had my AMH tested recently, its 10 too. I have 3 sons though and DH is more on board with HT as its a guarantee of gender. Waiting for a consult to hear our chance of success. DH wants to know numbers/% chance of success before we decide. Its probably not going to be good!

Its a hard one, from reading the posts on this site HT will be hard, esp at 40. I don't know if I have the energy (or money) for multiple cycles. Swaying might work but you never know. I've never swayed before, have you?

I've read on this site, if you'd be happy with another baby, then sway, but if you really want a girl, try HT.

    Interested in others thoughts...

Good idea to have a consult and see what the experts think! I wish you all the very best with your decisions and journeys. Its an emotional rollercoaster thats for sure

It would be really, really hard with your own eggs.

Would either of you consider donor eggs?? I really recommend them!

Thank you all for the responses!
I don't think I would consider donor eggs, I would probably just try naturally and have a third son if I still can.

I actually contacted SART in Thailand and the Dr there told me that, considering my age and AMH level, he estimates my chances of success at 30-40%.
I have to say I thought it would be far worse, but then again is this just unreliable stats..? I am not convinced.
He said my AMH level is "slightly low normal ovarian reserve".

If I was in the US I would go ahead I think, but being overseas it is so complicated, and I work so not sure how to get enough time off to travel.
Anyhow, I first have to convince my husband to have a third child I guess!!!

Hmmm...I personally think that may be overly optimistic but I hope some others will chime in with more info
