does anywhere else do the whooping cough jab for pregnant women from 28 weeks onwards? or is it just a UK thing? We also have the option of flu jab too

They make us get one in the US starting at 28 weeks, at least in the area I live. The flu vaccine is strongly encouraged but not part of the routine prenatal care.

is it not optional? over here you can decline any part of ante-natal care if you choose too, jabs, scans, blood tests, midwife/doctor check ups etc are all optional, the only thing that you are legally required to do is to ensure that baby gets any medical treatment it needs once it is born.

I guess it is. As a patient you always have a right to refuse treatments.

i may be completely wrong here but i thought in the US they had laws surrounding maternity care and the things pregnant women can and cant do because the baby is legally recognised as a person before they are born? eg. a pregnant woman who drinks alcohol or takes drugs through pregnancy can get in trouble for child endangerment type things?

I had it with DD2 ...it’s becoming the norm. But it’s never compulsory.
I will probs do it again in the 3rd trimester again this time

I'm not having the flu shot. There are always negative stories online and I shouldn't have googled. I'll also have the whooping cough vaccine on the day of birth not during pregnancy. My advice is, don't google [emoji51]

I'll be getting rhe whooping cough shot at probably 30 weeks. Flu shot hasn't been mentioned as yet and I can't recall getting it with the boys? [emoji848] Maybe I did, will need to check I guess..

Mommy2apples, if you see this – must be test time very soon now??? FX I hope the lack of temping post O will have given your body the chance to be as zen and as ready for implantation as possible

Kat, Sky, Max…and the others – how are you?
4p2b – how is the new house? (or have I got it all mixed up and you’re still waiting to move ?? I swear my forgetfulness will kill me soon! Lol)

Iwant4 – I thought the idea of the whooping cough vaccine in the 3rd trimester was to give bub some immunity at birth before their first shot at 6 weeks – so would having the shot at birth have any benefit? (unless your last shot is too old maybe which is why you’d repeat it then anyways? Hubs has his 1st when DD1 was born, so will be about 4.5years at birth of DD3 and doesn’t need a new one yet).

Anyone having any scans, or appointments soon?
Any pics of nurseries, shopping sprees?

Ok have now told my boss about my news– oh the feigned excitement lol ah well, she was not upset as such but clearly not jumping up and down “oh I was wondering if you would have a third / oh the timing makes it hard bla bla bla” – well, it’s not like I can delay my due date just to suit you mate :P
I have to get to my big boss and tell him too before I can let loose the info with the colleagues ^^
