Appears we are going to do the same pattern. DH flatly refuses to use protection - says he doesn't like it. Our BD pattern has always been EOD day anyway. So it appears all we have to do is have the extra attempt at Positive OPK.

After doing a little more reading around the site, it appears what actually swayed pink for my daughters was the the BD pattern. We were newly weds and I know for a fact that we were BD every day. Add my chronic exercise and dieting it makes sense I had girls.

Hi ladies, can any of you shed some light for me on opk's?
I used clearblue digital (purple one) for first time ever yesterday and got a blank circle. Then this morning I got a flashing smiley face.
Im using the cheapie opk in the afternoons but not getting positive at all on it?
Any ideas?? As hoping to sway blue I don't want to do the 3 attempts until I know I'm about to ovulate?

Also I assume a +opk with clearblue digital is when it's a solid smiley not a flashing one?

    Thanks for any advice

Dreamingrainbow the first digi result will always be an open circle as it uses this to establish base levels as such. The flashing smiley indicates a rise in lh and estrogen but you can experience many days of flashing smiley (mine ranged from 2-5) when your levels peak you will get a solid smiley which is your pos opk.

If you suspect you have a short surge, once you get a close to or pos opk in the afternoon dip test ones then retest using your digi and see if you get a solid smiley. The beauty of it is, even if you pick up your peak surge early (as in no short surge but picked up at beginning of peak due to testing again) but still dont ovulate until 2nd day after solid smiley you get your three attempts in for sure

Thanks pbn3. Why can't their instructions explain that!? I may be a bit late starting to test for ovulation this month but fingers crossed. I assume u don't get a smiley face if not starting to ovulate?

Its more that your lh and/or estrogen levels are on the move and this is shown with a flashing smiley. As I mentioned, you may experience multiple days of a flashing smiley until the levels shift again and register a peak reading giving you a solid smiley

That's really good advice thank u! I'm not entirely sure what a short surge is but I'm not long post late mmc so I'm trying to get a read on my system/cycle and hoping to catch the egg if possible.
In my ignorance I thought if I got blank circle yesterday and flashing today then I thought I'd have solid tomorrow !
I'll keep doing the cheapie ones in the afternoon. So just to clarify - if I get what looks like a positive (or almost) on cheapie in the afternoon can I use the same urine to test the clearblue or do I wait another 4 hours?

You can absolutely use the same sample as the afternoon one to retest using digi. By short surge I mean some people have to test multiple times a day to catch there pos opk or they may miss it (other people can experience the opposite and have a long surge, so 2 or more days of pos opk before ovulation takes place) If you do get a solid smiley from an afternoon sample then normally you wouldn't have gotten it until the following morning if sticking to testing with fmu as per instructions, so you may not ovulate the 2nd day after. Does that make sense? Just trying to explain both ends short and long, but most people do fall in the middle

Hi guys. So I've had flashing smiley on digital clearblue 9th - 12th Nov using fmu. Using Cheapie opks each afternoon but getting barely a hint of a line! Have i missed it?
