Thanks Babs. We don't swaddle for any sleep anymore. We stopped at about 2 months. It is just weird that she can sleep 8 straight hours (or more) in her bassinet at night (not moving) but day naps she wakes in 30 minutes and can't put herself back to sleep. Thank you for the advice, ironically both today and yesterday I did put her in the bassinet for her first nap of the day, the one only about an hour after she first wakes up. She did great and slept 2 hours but I think she just still thought it was night time. I am going to be patient with her and myself. We will get there...and if not, I hope they make swings big enough for a 3 year old...hehe

I feel ya, GirlieCat! The only way Isobel will get to sleep is by swaddling and bouncing her in her bouncer...the whole nap! If I quit bouncing, she wakes. She hates the swing so packed that away lol. She'll also nap in a babycarrier while I get some housework done. Now that she can roll, she won't stay in the bouncer, tries to flip herself out ugh! But this week, when I've been folding washing, I put her on my bed (king mattress on the floor lol) and she's been going to sleep on her own after a brief whinge lol. I'm hoping she'll learn to settle herself to sleep more, as it's getting really hard to do anything around the house when I spend most of the day trying to get her to nap! If she doesn't have a decent nap then she's absolutely feral and screams the house down all afternoon :/

Hi Ladies- Hope everyone is doing good and enjoying their little ones.

Question- I am trying to figure out when "bedtime" should be for my 5 month old. I think I am putting her down too late but I don't know how to adjust her schedule. This is a typically day

    5:30am Wake and Feed
    7-9:15 Nap #1
    9:30- Feed then play
    11:30-1:30 Nap #2
    1:30- Feed then play
4:00-5 Nap #3 (1 hour if we are lucky)
    5:30- Feed then play
6:30-7 Nap #3 IF she didn't take her other nap #3
    8- Bath, lotion, PJs
8:30- Final feed of the day
    9- Bed

She sleeps 8 solid hours at night, no waking to feed. Her late afternoon/ evening naps are a struggle and she is often cranky as we try to pass the time waiting for her bath and bedtime routine. How should I adjust it? Go to bed earlier?

HELP- let me know what your 4-6 month old is doing?

    Thank you.

Hi GirlieCat! It sounds like you may want to try and bump up her bedtime by doing away with nap #3. It sounds like she may be getting cranky from being overtired. Give it a go on a Friday night so if it ends up being an epic fail it won’t be during the work week. This happened to my DS3, and once we moved up his bedtime, he slept for 10 hours instead of 8!

XX- I can bump it up but then I think I have to change eat times the whole day. Right now she goes 4 hours between eat times but only 3 hours between her 4th & 5th meal. If she goes to bed sooner then it would only be two hours or less between 4th & 5th...hummmm I will have to figure something out.

You most likely won’t have to change her feed times. She may cluster feed for her last two feedings- meaning she may eat every hour to two hours until bedtime. My kids have all done that prior to sleeping long stretches. She will figure it out for you- just follow her cues like you have been!

Dear GirlieC. Your scedule looks totally similar to my 5-month old daughters scedule. Except my girl wakes up 3-4 times at night to nurse. Even though she eat real food with spoon two meals a day, she still wakes up to drink milk from me every night. I haven’t figured out either how to put her to bed alone at night. She first fall a sleep when I come along. So we go to bed together around 9.30 pm - and get up together at 6.45 to do lunch boxes and get my 3 boys ready for school. I struggle to make her sleep in her own bed. She prefer to sleep next to me in our doble bed. Husband sleeps downstairs in another bed, so no hanky panky for us at the moment [emoji23] But Maybe That’s is also the best as we don’t want any more kids 🤣🤣
I think you should try to put her to bed a little earlier or give her her bath during the day when she is more awake and not so cranky as it has to be a good experience for both of you.

Hope everyone are doing great and enjoying their little ones. I still can’t believe I have a girl now that is 5 month old [emoji177].

Time really flies... & I feel super blessed [emoji120]

Girliecat I'd definately try to put her to bed earlier (between 7-8pm no later) then do one more feed before you go to bed eg 9.30 - 10.00pm. Try and put her on the breast or bottle without fully waking her then pop her back to bed after gentle burping. Keep the room as dark as possible while she's feeding. Eventually she'll grow out of needing that last night feed and you can start bringing it forward earlier and then stop all together. Just a suggestion

Girlie, I agree with putting her to bed earlier. Sounds like she's over tired.
And wow, that's fabulous she's sleeping so long at night! I lose count how many times Isobel wakes She is super cranky and frustrated at the moment because she's trying to learn to sit and crawl. She keeps waking up during the night and getting up on hands and knees so I have to roll her back over so she'll go back to sleep lol. I feel like a zombie!!
