Hi everyone, newbie here!
I stumbled across this website when I was googling gender selection. My husband has two boys already and I'm really wishing for a girl. We are only having a one child so this is my only chance! I was already settled with Shettlers method, missionary position and trying to lower my pH. So after finding this forum I decided to change my tactics!
We agreed we are TTC at the end of April or beginning of May. So I have about 12 weeks to get things ready! Here's my plan so far:
- I'm petite but I can lose about 4 kilos without being underweight so I'm definitely trying the LE diet. I'm also thinking I could look up that may sway for pink. I think I'm going to leave the skipping breakfest part closer to the O.
- I don't drink coffee or alcohol but I decided to pump up my Coke zero (caffeine and aspartame) and white wine intake. Maybe I buy a bottle of wine and drink 1-2 glasses per day just before ovulating.
- We are both vegetarians so we are going to keep doing that. (But so was my husband's ex-wife and they had two boys.)
- I eat lots of candy and chocolates so I'm reliefed I don't need to change that.
- I do some yoga and dance but I could add walks to my exercises.
- I have been taking multivitamin as a prenatal but I'm switching them to Folate only. I have been using Cranberry before because I had a phase when I was constantly getting bladder infections. I might start using them again occasionally.
- I just ordered Replens because my DH and I are quite active so I'm trying my best to keep my pH low.
- Lucky for me I have a regular cycle or at least I did before starting pills. I have two weeks left so after that I can start tracking my ovulations. I'm still going to use OPKs just in case.
Only thing I'm really confused about is the BD part. I'm not sure what is best for us because my DH is 40 years old. My DH is also on medication that affects on his sperm quality so I don't think abstaining is option for us. I'm thinking we should aim for the one attempt only O-3 or O-2. He will be taking hot showers frequently (so am I because we live in a cold country) and I was planning to do the jump and dump.
Any advices? What else I should do?

Hi and welcome, thanks for your patience, it's been a busy week for me.
While I always recommend LE Diet, you can do it without losing any weight. The diet sways even without weight loss and honestly the weight loss has not been very predictive of whose sways succeeded and whose did not.
vegetarian! Even though it's not 100% we have good results with vegetarian diet even without doing full LE!!
Keep candy and choc with a meal! Not snacking all day.
Cranberry did nothing for us in our results and I do not believe it is safe when TTC. May cause miscarriage. I'd avoid it since it doesn't even help a sway.
I never have 40 year olds do abstain. Again, not safe (may make potentially risky sperm quality) and doesn't work anyway, plus it really cuts odds of conception. I would probably have him do release every 2-4 days and then have the one attempt (on O-2 if you can, better for conception.)!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

I have 6 weeks before ttc and I've been struggling a lot with my sway..
I have lost about 1,5 kilos. I have tried generally just lose some weight but I'm trying to switch to the le diet. I think my vegetarian diet has to much protein in it.
My biggest problem is to stop snacking. I snack because I often feel tired or hungry.
My other problem is exercising. I've been mainly a couchpotato for a year and don't have any muscles. We just go dancing with my husband once a week for an hour. And about twice a month I do yoga for 45mins. I have tried to add more walks in to my routine and today was our first time playing badminton. I feel like I'm not doing enough cardio because I hardly ever out of breath.
If I don't have muscles to begin with I'm not sure how I should exercise? And what my DH should do?
I quit taking multivitamins and been taking just folate for two months.
I feel like I'm not doing enough but I'm just struggling so much with the diet and exercising.. I'm afraid to even ttc because I don't want to fail.
Edit. I have been eating ubiquinol because I'm trying to boost my eggs quality. I'm also taking iron because I'm a bit anemic.
I read tons of researches about mycophenolate (medication my husband is taking) and it's poison. Well not really, it's keeping my husband alive but it's destroying his sperm. He talked to a three doctors and none of them were sure if we should ttc. The risk of birth defects are possible even though I haven't been able to find a study to support that theory.
There's nothing my DH can do about it. I'm just trying to boost my eggs as healthy as possible. But I'm not much healthier because I have hypothyroidism. I'm visiting my doctor this week to find out if there's room to improve.Last edited by Tipi; April 2nd, 2018 at 10:22 AM.

It may be hard initially but hang in there, your body will soon get used to no snacking. Good luck

Try tracking your regular diet, you may be surprised that there is less protein than you think.
You will adjust to not snacking. The important thing is that you are getting enough real food (I see you mention eating a lot of candy, that will not keep you going, you need actual food!)
You don't have to be out of breath. Cardio just needs to be 60 minutes of whatever - walking is fine, you don't need to be super taxed by the end of it.
For DH, jogging and biking have been proven in studies to sway pink, but they will reduce his sperm health. I would probably not have him exercise and just do what he's doing.
I know it feels like you're not doing enough but we have found the people who do the most, actually end up having the most boys. Something about trying to do a super complicated project sways blue in a big way. We have much better luck with doing a sway like a sustainable lifestyle you can stick with in the long term.
Also, since you're hypothyroid, you may need to be more cautious on the diet - eat less candy (or NONE), more fruits and vegetables, and whole grains instead of sugar and white flour.
The ubiquinol is fine.
The medication he's on probably sways pink anyway. Don't worry about birth defects, doctors are often overly conservative about things like that. I really urge you guys to have hubby release every 2-4 days for best sperm count.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

I felt so much better after reading your messages, like 'I CAN do this!'. Last week I stopped being a couch potato and started exercising: I went dancing, bowling, more walks. I managed to lose more weight but I'm still eating too much fats and protein.
Well, I thought I didn't ovulated this month because tests were negative and my periods should start in 8 days. So we had unprotected bd last night. This morning my opk was positive! My hands were shaking and I even cried. We had agreed we start trying in May because we wanted a baby be born next year.
After the bd I immediately did the j&d just to clean myself up. Day before I used Replens.
I'm having so many mixed feelings. I think I did a lot of things that sways blue.Last edited by Tipi; April 8th, 2018 at 08:28 AM.

Yes, ovulation can be delayed so don't ever have unprotected sex unless you're certain you have already ovulated (from symptoms, OPK, or temping/charting and not because of when AF is due)
It's possible you could conceive from that, not super likely though. Don't get upset till you're looking at a BFP (and not even then, because you always have a chance of a girl no matter what!)!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
