What do you think of my sway?

    Hi

I was wondering if anybody would mind having a look at my sway? I’ve had a bad week (mainly due to AF) and there has been lots of cheating so I guess I’m hoping for some reassurance that everything otherwise looks good. This is what I’m doing:

Diet is skipping breakfast, sweet potato with butter and green beans and full fat greek yoghurt with strawberries for lunch followed by a normal family dinner (chicken about three times a week). Have been substituting rice for cauliflower rice in family meals. Having 1-2 shop bought black coffees a day and Diet Coke to help with cravings (1-2). Also having a large glass (at least) of white wine every night.

In terms of macros I’m average 55-60g fat and protein per day. I’m not bothering to count sodium etc. My main concern is trying to keep my glucose low but I’ve not managed that very well this week because of AF. I stick to diet and then by afternoon am desperate to binge

Not doing anything else except taking Agnus castus and folic acid and fibre. On attempt I’m planning on doing e4d. I have bought rephresh but not sure whether I’ll use that yet. I also have some Actifed that I’m planning to use on the night.

That’s it. Finding it super hard to stick to at the moment. Any thoughts on it would be really good :-)

Ps I should say am doing alternate LE

Just my $0.02 I think that the diet Coke is not good for helping cravings -- I've heard that it does the opposite -- your body tastes the sweet and expects sugar, and when it doesn't get sugar, it makes you crave it more. Maybe try herbal tea or coffee instead?

Also, IMO if you are tempted to binge, then you are not eating enough. Maybe if you ate a couple handfuls of nuts for breakfast, that would help.

Ask atomic about this, but I'm not sure a glass of wine in the evening would help. If you drink it with dinner, then I think it would, but if you drink it a few hours later, then it might be like a "third meal" and since alcohol has a ton of sugar in it, it could be as bad as eating a donut for breakfast.

    Hi, thanks for your response!

I think you’re spot on about the bingeing - I really need to eat more at lunch. The coke actually helps as I don’t useually drink stuff like that and I find it so sweet that it does stop me wanting chocolate.

The wine I think is ok and lowers blood sugar even though that seems impossible! I have a glass as I’m cooking and then another glass as I eat. I’m not sure about if it has to always be only with food so will be great to get more clarification on that. It really helps me limit my eating so thats working well for me

I felt like the Diet Coke or a no calorie sparkling water would help me in between meals too. Anything more than 50 calories (or something like that) should be with a meal, but I think the wine before and during dinner would be ok, especially if it keeps you sane! Are you only doing two meals? I still did three meals and skipped breakfast, but it can throw off the timing of your family meal. What’s your total calories? Adding veggies or fiber helps feel satisfied too?

Hi! Yes, I’m only doing two meals but I struggle in the afternoon because I end up eating my first meal early (just before normal lunchtime). I might end up splitting this so that I have my yoghurt etc at 11amish and then my potato/lunch at 1. That might help me avoid wanting to snack. The Diet Coke is great for that. As is a coffee. At night the wine before my meal is to stop me wanting to eat food so I figure it’s the lesser of two evils.

Totals cals is 1200-1300 (I’m really small so don’t lose weight if I eat more than that). I’m taking fibre supplements but probably should add in a few more veggies. What kind of things did you eat for your sway? I’ve had a very bad week off due to AF. I was crazily desperate for food. Am determined to start anew today :-)

I was doing more calories that you are. I worry that you’ll lose too fast too soon then you’ll burn out and actually start gaining weight back when you’re trying to conceive. And you do need enough calories/weight to keep ovulating. I ate a lot of the same stuff repetitively, which luckily didn’t bother me. I did A LOT of veggies. For lunch I would often have a store bought low fat veggie soup and would add white rice. Or bagel with low fat cream cheese. Dinners something like veggies over noodles. That’s probably not very helpful, I was very boring! FYI, I did not do the PCOS version.

Hi ohdeer. I am also doing alternate LE and over the past week before my period had a lot of carb cravings and difficulty staying away from empty carbs. Your fat and protein levels sound right and the foods you describe sound girl friendly. Not sure if rephresh is needed but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. Are you doing daily exercise or no exercise?

Also are you eating when you drink the wine? I'm not sure how much that affects blood sugar but it might be good to have a little fat and protein with the carbs. That's tough to do within daily limits and keeping away from the constant grazing snacking! I'm trying to get back on track this week now that I have my period. Sending support!

Yes, this is what I meant... and the diet coke might be a big factor.

Hi Gafan, it’s good to hear of somebody having the same experience. I’ve never wanted carbs like I did that week, I was crazy. I’m not doing any exercise because I’m too busy (and lazy) to fit it in but I do walk to work every day (about 25 mins each way). So not very much. WHat’s your plan? With the wine I’m having a glass while I cook and then a bit more with my food. I find it really helps to stop me snacking. It’s the bit of the diet I actually like, it’s great :-)

Thanks too Gwynn, I probably should up my calories with the long haul in mind. I find veggies difficult with lunch on the go but have definitely upped my intake a lot. I’ve lost about half a stone since January so it’s been a pretty steady weight loss (probably held off by my crazy bingeing during AF). You make a good point though - if I don’t get pregnant pretty much right away I’m going to plateau and gain.
