    Pcos question.

Hi there! Looking for some advice please! Before I conceived my DD I was diagnosed with PCOS. I have very little symptoms other than my periods were non existent. However since having my DD it seems to have sorted itself and I had regular periods, painful but I had a copper iud in, no acne or excessive hair and I'm not over weight (although I would like to lose 8kg to be back to pre pregnant weight).
My DD is now 3 and we have started TTC (this month) AF has arrived today but my cycle was 35 days (which is unusual for me) I really thought I could have been pregnant. Is this usual for the normal LE diet, would that have increased my cycle? I know 35 days is still a normal length however I normally have a 29-32 day length maximum.
Also given my hx of PCOS should I be on that diet even though I don't think I have it anymore?
    Thanks for your help!

I still want you on the PCOS-type diet. PCOS is not a disease per se it's just something that most of us will develop if our lifestyles support it strongly enough and the standard LE Diet, with all its empty carbs, could potentially aggravate your underlying tendencies.

The LE Diet can lengthen cycles for 2 different reasons. 1) You've cut back too far in calories and fat intake OR 2) the higher carb intake could have gotten your PCOS aggravated. We can't know for sure which of these is the case so I'd def. have you on the alternate PCOS-type diet, but be REALLY sure you're eating a good level of cals (1800-2000) and make sure your protein and particularly fat intake is 50-60 g. NO LESS than that. The reason why the protein and fat are that high are to be sure you're not getting too many carbs for your PCO but also to be sure you have enough coming in to keep ovulating (since it's super easy to lose weight on the PCOS-type diet and you can end up stopping ovulation due to not enough food.)

    Taking any herbal supps???

Thank you for your reply atomic. Please may you direct me to the diet article so I know what I am allowed to include? I am loosely following sw type meal plan, does this help?
I am just taking folic acid, that's all and o my 500mcg. Do you recommend more? Any other sups you recommend at all pls? I have looked at fibre but I'm unsure, is it a real good tactic? I am considering an antihistamine as I had copious amounts of EWCM last month. Thanks so much for your advice x

Sorry I'm not following what SW type meal plan is.

I would recommend you take 1200-1600 range of folic.

I think fiber is effective although it's not as clearcut in our results now as it was at first.

Antihistamine has not seemed to work for us but it's fine if you want to start off using it, you can drop it in future months if you don't conceive on it.

Thank you for your reply! SW = slimming world diet plan.
I will start trying to monitor what I'm eating but I'm not very good with my fitness pal. I wonder if it's since I have gone mostly veggie that my cycles have changed. Do you think fibre would be worth a go anyway or is there a risk it could sway blue? How much do I take and when? Thank you

Oh duh I knew that. Yes we've had some people follow Slimming World, not enough to have a feel for how it sways.

I can't really help pin down your missing cycle without more info - esp. on fat and calories. I can't say if you should start fiber or not unless I know if you're getting enough fat (since fiber absorbs fat). Even if you could just add up one average day it will help me know more about what is going on. I can't give you good advice without that info.
