Thanks girl dreaming. I'm pretty sure it's a chemical, I'm not getting anything on tests now. Just want to start bleeding so I'm out of limbo again.
How are you?

ABC thanks for this! I don’t have PCOS that I’m aware of. I was put on metformin the second cycle of HT as They see improved egg quality in lots of people when they use it. I had insulin resistances the past pre children but with change in diet I managed to get rid of it. All glucose tests last year were normal. But I’ve just kept taking it to help egg quality plus I read on here it helps sway pink. I’ve been sugar free for years, and I was pretty much grain free, so this diet has been a big change & my mindset has still seen me stay away from the sugar as i know how it used to make me foggy etc but if it’s a quick fix I’ll do it! What did you eat specifically that helped you gain weight?

Emshe, well I haven't really gained weight... Sort of stopped losing it for the moment but as I start back on LE I'm sure I'm going to lose more again. My BMI is at about 20.5 right now though (was about 27 when I started this a year ago) so I'm going to have to be careful about that too. I'm trying to eat about 1700 calories per day right now which is higher than I was eating before each of my BFPs, and I haven't really started back with the exercise yet. I didn't know metformin helps egg quality! I wonder if I should ask my RE about that. Anyways... I think I saw that you had asked atomic about this? It seems tricky to me since you had IR issues in the past, and as you've been sugar and grain free, it would seem like you'd want to be careful about suddenly adding a bunch of sugar in since it seems like that would be a pretty big shock to your system. But you need to stop losing weight it sounds like. Are you eating at the top of the calorie/fat/protein ranges? (like 1,800 calories, 50-60 fat, 50-60 protein). Maybe adding in a few small sweets, chocolates, etc. a day to give you that bit of extra sugar?

It’s so confusing what to do isn’t it. Ask them about metformin, it’s pretty common for HRC to use. Particularly for PCOS & IR. It can cause tummy upsets at the beginning but if your limiting sugars and empty carbs I found I had no adverse reaction.
I’m on the fertility diet. I do all the limits for protein and fat easily but I can never get the calories up much higher than 1300 with what I eat, I think it’s because I am so particular with regard to sugar & carb stuff. I don’t include any of the veggies I eat in the count and I eat stacks. I have to use a serving salad bowl for lunch as it’s so big and dinner feels like a mountain. Maybe I should try switching to brown rice & sweet potato? I have been having beans as a source of protein which I think maybe I don’t tolerate well (causes me to go to the toilet sorry tmi) so I’ll switch back to 100g of chicken twice a day, or an egg & chicken, and salmon once a week. Or any other protein suggestions within girl sway?
Yes I asked atomic and she said eat whatever! That scares me. I know I overthink everything. Wish I could flick that off switch.
So yeah I’m worried about shocking my body with this stuff. But I have to try my BMI has dropped to 18.3 from 22, which it was in December. weighed myself this morning and I’m almost a kilogram heavier today but that could be AF related. I also ate a lot yesterday and haven’t exercised for 4 days as the weather has been awful & ive felt very weak. I think I need to let go with the diet more.
Really appreciate your advice ABC thank you

Emshe - it sounds like you're doing a perfect PCOS LE diet (ie fertility diet). And that's probably why it's so hard to keep weight on since I know that atomic says people lose weight a lot faster on PCOS LE versus the regular LE (probably as it is so healthy, and the regular LE version is full of sugar!). I really think sugar - not fat - is the biggest enemy in terms of people gaining/being unable to lose weight. I think when people cut out sugar, or even cut back a lot on it, it really changes things in the body and makes you lose weight a lot faster. Seems to have been my experience so far too. Do you ever eat Kind bars? I don't know if you have them where you are - in fact I don't even know where you are - are you in the US? UK? Anyways, I've been eating those lately. They have these "breakfast" ones that have 8 grams of protein in one serving. They aren't completely whole grain but they have nuts, oats, etc. in them. Or maybe there is another type of protein bar that you might try? Those almost always have some sugar in them so that'd give you a little bit of sugar, but it would be balanced a bit with the protein. I agree that potatoes - sweet or regular - would be a good option too as they are pretty "carby", which could help you keep weight on, but I think a lot of people on the PCOS diet eat them. Do you eat dairy? Greek yogurt also has a great amount of protein in it. I'm getting more into lentils and quinoa lately too!
I wish I was as good as you about eating vegetables - I'm just not a big fan!! Although I have started eating more roasted veggies and I do like them that way!
I felt that way - run down, weak, awful - before my last BFP. It's tough. I think the overall lower nutrient diet combined w/ such frequent exercise just really does weaken you after awhile. I barely exercised in the tww before my BFP because I was just so dang tired!20132015

Ill have a look at the bars, I am in AUS. Ive seen the bars with the bear on them here which I noticed in the US. Cant think what they're called. Yeah I have eaten full fat greek style yoghurt everyday pretty much for years and couldnt give that up, i love dipping my apple in it or having it with strawberries and almonds, or on a butter roasted banana. I am very fortunate I love my veges. Roast veg is delicious. I made soup the other day to which was a nice change and there was so much when blitzed down I could barely get through it. I might pop in quinoa, I used that alot before diet as I love it, but thought maybe it was too nutritious?
Sugar maybe my friend right now by the seems, Ill see how I go, its only short term and my body may appreciate it for now. Ill only be having it with meals so there will be the protein there to help balance it out. The app I used to track with showed me hitting 45grams with just the proteins and fruits I was punching in, I don't know what the norm is? Ill try some lollies, as Ive got to try to stick to the fat limit which I already hit.
