Hi ladies,
Last month was our first month trying. I am not pregnant and I still don't have my period. I am cd 31 now. I have NEVER gone past cd 30 in terms of AF showing up so I am pretty sad and worried I have now lost ovulation. I know AS, you mentioned it is not that common to have an anovulatory cycle, but I just feel something is not right. I am sometimes a couple days early but to go past day 30 - this only happened to me the second period after my period came back after breastfeeding and even then it was normal timing from the third period onward.
Last month, I was feeling miserable and weak on the diet/exercise and I cut out fiber supplements about 3 weeks ago and reduced exercise to 4 times a week from 6 times a week. I feel much more "normal" now but I am pretty devastated that AF is nowhere in sight.
I do have this weird crampy sensation that feels like pressure you get when your period is about to start. But I have no blood at all, not even spotting.
So my question is, for anyone who *may* have inadvertently lost ovulation, how long does it take to come back? I don't know how much I weigh because I only have a scale at my gym but I will get one this weekend to make sure I am putting on a couple of pounds. I do feel like I look less thin, my mid section looks a little more chunky, and I definitely feel like I have more energy, so I am assuming I am better nourished. At this point, I just want my period back cause we do really want another baby and I am not young. Ideally, I would like to conceive by November at the latest.
I feel like I totally messed up and DH was so excited that I might be pregnant and now I do not even HAVE a period to get pregnant :'(

you could have ovulated very late this month which then pushes af later too, i hope that is the case for you and that things get back on track next month, im sorry i cant be of any more help i hope you get your bfp very soon xx

sorry to comment again but its just struck me that when i was younger (before all babies and not ttc) i would randomly get a cycle up to 42 days long then return to my usual 28-30 days, it wasnt often maybe one a year (cant remember in that much detail!!) but it did happen for no apparent reason and would go back to normal after, i really hope its the same for you!!

Thank you so much for your good wishes, 4blue...
I hope I just ovulated late too but my gut tells me I did not. It's funny because all cycle I felt like something is so weird. I almost feel like I had a PCOS month based on my LH readings not really having a proper peak and drop. But I don't have PCOS.
Trying to wait patiently...never have I wanted to bleed so badly!

i dont know much about this im sorry.. i can only imagine how frustrating it must be!! if you dont ovulate do you not have a period? i thought you had bleeding anyway as some people dont know they arent ovulating until they start ttc and get tested (happened to a friend of mine, normal af but no bfp after months.. turns out shes infertile with both tubes completely blocked
) not trying to scare you in any way, just using this as an example of no ovulation not meaning no periods, fingers crossed for af for you!! (feels very odd saying that!!) xx

You can have a DELAYED ovulation, even delayed for quite some time, but this doesn't mean the cycle will be anovulatory. Anovulatory cycle is when you don't ovulate but eventually your estrogen level will drop and your uterine lining will slough off. Not at all the same thing as ovulating late, and then getting a true period.
I think you should have an attempt. The crampy feeling sounds like it could be related to ovulation so I'd be in with attempt to cover and then every 4 days from here on in till AF starts.
Ovulation takes a varying amount of time to come back. Some people it comes back the very next month perfectly normally, others go for 3-6 months with spotty, irregular ovulation.
What I DON"T want you to do is stop attempting. Then you really WILL start wasting time. Be sure you're having regular unprotected sex from here on in every 4 days (MOnday/Thursday pattern, not those days per se, but that many days apart). You will most likely ovulate eventually if you haven't already and this will ensure you're in with an attempt.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

It depends on the person. It's pretty rare for people on this site to get a "period" every 28 days if they are not ovulating. It can happen but it is in the extreme, extreme minority (I can literally count on one hand the times that this has happened and all but one of those people were NOT getting regular bleeds every month without ovulating, just on occasion.) I can only recall ONE person who was having regular cycles and not ovulating, and it was very far from clear as to whether that was a normal state of affairs for her or had only happened just in that one month and then she drew the conclusion that it was always happening to her.
Most people on here have delayed ovulation, but they do ovulate eventually, and then will get their period about 12-14 days after ovulation occurs, even when ovulation is several days/weeks late.
When you have a true anovulatory cycle, what typically happens is that people will go quite some time, generally longer than a regular cycle, and then their estrogen will drop for whatever reason and this triggers a bleed. It's not a period, it's a breakthrough bleed. It typically occurs over the course of months and NOT once every 28 days (again, this is pretty rare)
Are you sure your friend was actually not ovulating or simply that the eggs couldn't get down the blocked tubes? This is two different things. If she was ovulating, then the eggs just stayed up at the top of the tubes till they died and hormonally, she was having a period, it's jsut that there were never any eggs that could be fertilized and thus she couldn't get pregnant. It's not the same circumstance as someone who is legit not making/releasing any eggs at all and is only having bleeding because their estrogen suddenly drops. Now, it's of course possible that she could both have had completely blocked tubes and been not ovulating at the same time but that's not going to be the norm for 99.9% of people.Last edited by atomic sagebrush; May 6th, 2018 at 11:06 AM.

thankyou for explaining Atomic, i think you may be right about my friend, i only know what she has chosen to tell (i dont want to pry into a very upsetting situation..) what i do know is that she conceived her children very easily then re-married and ttc with new husband, nothing happening.. went to docs who ran tests and said she wasnt ovulating.. she then underwent some type of keyhole surgery involving dye that showed both tubes were completely blocked, they dont know what is blocking them but they tried to unblock by "forcing/flushing" the dye through during surgery but it failed
she is diagnosed as unexplained infertility which has occurred at some point in the last 5 years since her youngest was born, shes only 30, the only option they now have is to raise the money for ivf

Thanks AS and 4blue.
Atomic, so if I could be ovulating, my LH test would be positive, right? I am going to go take a test right now. I took one yesterday and it was false.

Awww, poor thing - I hope and pray they are able to get the money together to do IVF!!
That would be a very rare situation (to be both not ovulating but having regular periods, and having oth tubes blocked). I don't think anyone who is reading this should now start thinking that is happening to them, because it almost certainly isn't.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
