Some of us just have very quick metabolisms. I'm that way too. Not so much any more but when I was in my 20's and 30's I could easily eat 2500-3000 cals a day and not gain an ounce. But it's not about some set amount of calories, I had to pick a number for convenience that will work for the majority, but some of us just need to up that.

I was breastfeeding two children and I seriously doubt I ever got that low in cals (maybe a day here or a day there but not consistently). I didn't track after the first week and just let my overall weight loss and milk supply be my guide.
