Girlsway- I want dh to abstain for 7-8 days to lower his sperm count. So we are attempting e7d. Atomic actually said she wants people to start out e7d and move to e4d if not falling pregnant and e4d+1 at pos opk if still not falling pregnant. I think bc it ensures 1 attempt. I have always bd through the week of o so abstaining is new to me.

Ladies, just a reminder when you have an atomic-specific question please always start a new thread and ask me because it's really easy to misunderstand some of this stuff. Sometimes I just happen to spot something I can explain, but other times I won't see the q's in the support threads and it's best when wondering to start another thread to ask me.

I don't want anyone to start off at e7d. I like people to start off at one attempt. One attempt at positive OPK is much better than e7d because you know when to have the attempt instead of just taking a blind shot once a week.

The reason I recommended e7d for you personally, Raising, was because you were coming off the BCP and did not necessarily know when you were going to ovulate. Since during our first exchange I wasn't sure how you were planning to determine ovulation, I will sometimes use e7d as a way for people to be in with one attempt every week when I have no idea when they're going to ovulate and either OPK do not work for them or else they don't want to use them.

But this is not my standard advice for everyone because like I mentioned above. e7d is not a method that I use widely because it does cut odds of conception beneath what I feel to be acceptible. Since one attempt does make it harder to conceive, e7d makes that even harder still since at least with pos OPK we have a pretty good shot at being in the ballpark.

So, I want everyone to start off doing one attempt either 1-2 days before ovulation or at positive OPK. Then after having given that a solid try, go to e4d. If you're in the boat where you may not O for a long time and/or OPK don't work for you, then yeah, e7d is an option, but it's not something that I recommend for most people.
