My last family doc was very picky about what they would run on me. I am 37 and they wouldn't even do a cholesterol because a didn't have a family history. I had to beg for a CBC. There is no way they will run an HCG without requesting it and even if they do run it, insurance may or may not cover it. If you have good insurance go ahead and request it. If you don't I would hold out... dollar store tests are much cheaper. They probably won't run an quantitative HCG (where you get a number) on you anyway, just a pregnancy tests and the preg tests that the doctor uses are NO DIFFERENT then what you can get at any local drug store.

Well, I am feeling much less optimistic now. Spotting has increased this evening and I am having cramps. I think AF is on her way. I'm only 9 DPO but I have a short luteal phase. I am worried that my short LP is not allowing enough time for implantation. I have read that Vitamin B6 can increase LP, but of course that sways blue. Sigh. I guess there is still a chance for this month...but since I spot every month at this time I really think it's AF starting to make her entrance. This is our third cycle TTC with our GD sway (after also TTC for a couple months before I found this site.) I now realize how lucky we were to conceive so quickly with our boys. This is becoming an emotional roller coaster of getting hopes up and being let down each month. I agree with those that say you would much rather see AF than a BFN...I am feeling the same way this month.
Good luck Anchor and BabyGirl if you test tomorrow. I guess I might test in the morning just in case, unless AF is here in full force by then. You never know...

Hang in there, TTCPink! I honestly didn't realize how difficult this was going to be either. I barely looked at my husband and got pregnant with both my boys. I'd never even seen a BFN prior to this attempt. I did want to let you know that I've taken B6 in the past and it did increase my LP in the first month of taking it daily (however I wasn't taking it for that purpose). I wonder what Atomic would say...if B6 sways blue heavily OR "if you don't get pregnant you don't have any chance at your DG" and to go for it.

But I was only 5 dpo at the time. Isn't that a little early for implantation cramps....Sorry I should know these things since I've had 3 kiddos, it is just that we never really ttc so I never really had to endure the misery of the 2ww the ONLY symptom I have ever felt with my kids is the pinch/twinge pains and immense hunger. So those random AF like cramps at 5 dpo really threw me off!

I think its on the early side that the eggy would start implanting, but definitely not out of the realm of possibility! I think after fertilization it takes 2-4 days to travel down, then starts implanting...so could be :-)
