Coming from someone who recently had a miscarriage and hadn't told family I now think its better to tell close friends and family early. If the worst happens you really do need the support of those people.

I'm sorry about your MC, ruby.

That's a good point about telling people who are close to you. There are some people you would want to know about the MC and some people you wouldn't want to talk to about it. So maybe it's best to tell the people in the first group about your pregnancy early on.

Our family is now complete - no more babies for us. We didn't get our girl but I wouldn't trade my boys for the world, so in love.

Ditto. My first pregnancy and second I ended up telling some people, but it really helped that they knew when I ended up miscarrying because I had a lot of support and didn't feel like I was dealing with something horrible on my own.

I have been struggling with the same issue especially since last time we lost a baby so late I don't know when I would tell people. I've told some people I'm close to and I am very close to my mom and while i want to tell her because we talk all the time, I don't want her to worry and I know she will worry a lot and if something happens she will worry even more and be devastated if it happens again.. so it's made it hard because I feel like it's not fair if I tell other people before her :x

We ended up telling some family and friends after the miscarriage because I just felt like I needed to acknowledge the pregnancy and also I didn't want to have to pretend everything was all good and normal when I saw them when I really wasn't.

Spinningmadly - Your mum will worry but I'm sure she'd like to know so she can be there for you.

The peace of mind is awesome and later on if you don't feel baby kicking.. the doppler will pick all of that up, it's very fun to see what baby is up to!
Butterfly...did you have no success before 12 weeks and then all of a sudden at 12 weeks you heard a heart beat? I know the packaging says 10 -12 weeks you should hear the hb. I just haven't had any success yet, I'm 11 1/2 weeks. And it seems like I was 10 weeks last pregnancy when I heard the hb (although to be honest I'm a few pounds heavier now and much more bloated)...
