I had another thought. Do you think there may be a bmi pattern to it? women below and above a certain level more likely to conceive girls? As I am short and a bit chunky lately, I was definately trimmer during my boy time. My bmi is 28.7currently and has been around this for my last 3 conceptions, before that I used to be around 25. I know muscle mass comes into it aswell so that would mess things up a bit, but we could have a bmi and muscle description survey, lean, muscular, flabby lol. I shouldn't be laughing cos I'm in the flabby catagory atmused to be muscular, honest.

That is what I wonder as well. It's hard to tell just by looking at someone, how much muscle mass they have and how much they even weigh. I have noticed that the superthin moms I see with all girls have VERY thin legs and even when I'm quite thin I still have "thunder thighs" - that is the last part of me to lose weight but it is usually covered, so I ~look~ thinner than I actually am. I think the same can be true for heavier people as well, it's hard to tell how much is fat and how much is muscle so just by looking at them, who even knows what their body composition truly is.
Also I wonder about metabolism and caloric intake. I can seriously eat as much food as a man and I burn it all off really easily, so even though I'm on the thinnish side I def. eat 2500 cals a day if not more, and also all the nutrients that go along with eating that much. I know people who weigh much more than me and eat way less, so if caloric intake and nutrients really are a factor, I can easily see how a heavy person with a low metabolism might not be eating as much as a thin person with a high metabolism.!!! Thanks, atomic, for always putting together all of this information for us. I was just venting as it's so frustrating and so hard to keep doing this....thinking about what I'm eating, when I'm going to fit in all this cardio, being hungry, etc. It's certainly easier for me than to gain 100 lbs. though.

Oh I TOTALLY get that and I'm so glad you brought it up because it's prompting me to put together an essay with ALL the links together in one place! Much appreciated. ♥ It is VERY frustrating and I wish I could just find that magic bullet instead!!

Sorry to throw a wrench in this, but before conceiving all THREE of my girls, I lost significant amounts of weight (weight watchers, cardio, 15-20 lb loss). I was always dieting and watching what I ate as well.

I think that weight loss is quite a big pink swayer, because the body thinks its not in a time of plenty so conceives more girls as they can survive in less perfect conditions? I've always thought it would be interesting if anyone was part of a weight loss club and noticed any trends in the ladies there if they conceived, were they just losing weight and doing cardio or eating better and building muscle.

Two people I know from IG who both lost significant amounts of weight, (one even had her stomach stapled) went from having all boys when they were heavy (one had two and the other had 3 or 4) to having all girls. Both had two more daughters. Obviously a sample of two is not scientific but I did always think that was very interesting.

I was 110 lbs when I first met my hubby who was 275 lbs, odd mix I know but it was love. I was 120 lbs at the time I got pregnant and sadly I was 181 lbs after 9mths. I was able to get to 155 lbs and couldn't loose anymore and then I got pregnant again. And very sad to say I was 191 when he was born.... I am at 154 now and working to loose about 20 lbs before I conceive.
I believe our big problem was diet and our lifestyle at the time... winter from Oct-Mar in front of the tv with junk food, summer time outside for hours and ate anything that could be BBQ, and eating a lot of Italian and Mexican. We have made many changes and will make more in the next few months.Last edited by purplepoet20; March 30th, 2011 at 06:49 PM.
