Both estrogen and progesterone can cause sore nipples but I think it's a good sign that your hormones are different than they were.

I have had some high temps in charting and I know for a fact I am super high estrogen low progesterone as my normal hormonal make up. The chart I had before my 2 day hormone check showed what looked like I should have had high progesterone because the pre o temps were unusually high. But my estrogen at the beginning of my next cycle was pretty elevated, and I continued to have some high temps. From doing IVF I know for certain I am an estrogen over responder.

Of course, it's hard to tell on the basis of a single chart what is happening, but if your charts have always looked one way and then they look different all of a sudden, I think that can be a sign that something is changing.
