I never thought it might be temp of solution, I just went for ambient temp off the thermometer on the wall at home. I calibrated every few days, I wanted to make sure it was accurate but most times I checked to recalibrate it didn't need it.

I still can't get it to stabilise while holding in solution so I layed it flat after stirring and it worked, do you think that it ok to do?
