no timing is not critical at all, many LARGE studies have found absolutely no link between timing and gender. I can only think of one study other than Shettles own study (which, for the record, wasn't even scientific as he was getting the women to do other things known to sway too such as douching, diet, clomid not to mention he had a flawed theory) that found a link so most likely that one was a coincidence. The majority of studies have either found no timing link or a very slight trend in the opposite way (more girls conceived at OV).
when you're looking at smaller groups or people you know luck plays a more significant role. Most people don't even have any idea when they OV - perhaps those who think they OV on CD14 and DTD on CD10 actually happen to OV on CD10 because most women don't OV on CD14. Even if using OPKs they can't know if they have already OVed by the time they get the positive (and have caught the end as the LH surge is dropping) or if they will OV 3 days later. This makes any testimonial from someone you know quite irrelevant.

Its hard. I am also not convinced either way and I have done a LOT of research on this, reading through all the info on here and I've read shettles book too.
I am not so convinced enough to give up my 2/3 days timing BUT I am convinced enough to have bought rephresh and be going onto my own version of LE and am starting my exercise back up (Id be doing that anyway though)
As far as statistics go I know a LOT of people that got their girls with timing and also a lot that didn't. Same on here a LOT of people did the girl diet and still got boy and a lot got their girls. I think its down to each individual and how much they want to believe.
You will never change the mind of a woman who followed shettles and got a girl and you will never change the mind of a GD follower who got their girl. Its personal preference. The majority of people will laugh at you for trying either! My friend is a GP and I told her - she laughed hysterically at me and said 'I've studied science for 10 years, it's 50/50'
Despite that I am a believer in a bit of both xLast edited by dreamingofwin; August 30th, 2013 at 04:03 AM.

No timing is NOT critical at all. You said you think it's 50-50, but it's not 50-50. I accidentally posted the wrong link I"m sorry. Read this, it shows why swaying is a real thing and not 50-50 http://genderdreaming.com/forum/sway...-part-1-a.html

They THINK they got their kids from timing, but unless they had an ultrasound the fact is that they have no clue when they ovulated. I have talked to women numbering probably into the thousands by this point and
Aside from that, it's just silly to me, when there are 50-50 conceived thru the cycle, to assume even a seemingly successful timing sway proves anything, because 50% is still a heck of a lot of kids.
