For anyone who does not have PCOS or insulin resistance, it's fine to get a lot of your cals from sugar.
Also, if you really can't limit fat any more than you are (that's fine) just aim for getting a higher % of your fats from Omega 6 sources such as non-olive vegetable oils (soy, corn, canola, veg oil) and less from Omega 3, healthy, and saturated fats (fish oil, avocado/nut oil, coconut, butter, animal fats)
Re exercise, I think it's ok to pace yourself and do mod. exercise coming into a sway and then kick it up 4-6 weeks before - I would not leave it any later than that if at all possible.
