Honest to God truth - I would not check my pH after DTD. I think all it does is makes you totally insane over things that are out of your control, and I do not believe for one minute that pH of 5 or 5.5 means you're going to conceive a boy. Semen pH is naturally in the 7's and BOTH X and Y sperm thrive in it - there is no earthly way that if semen pH is in the 7's, that you MUST have very low pH to conceive a girl.

Thanks alot for that... I was actually thinking of dtd when i get my first positive opk! My poor dh will be releasing for 16 days straight this time as i dont ovulate until day 17, Would you suggest maybe get him to release first batch and then use second?? Just to get a lower count enough.

If he has released 16 days in a row there is no need to dump the first batch. That's only if you're switching from abstinence to frequent release, or if something goes wrong and you miss a day. His count should be plenty low by that point!!!

Ok so am i best just to use the rephresh a couple of days before o? Is dtd once on first positive opk the way to go? Or I o usually on day 17 so should we dtd days 14 and 15? With the Rephresh I use a whole applicator?

I'm going to use Rephresh every 3 days throughout my cycle so it's not a shock to my system when I really need it to be working! I'll use a whole applicator each time because I find it too difficult to do anything else. FWIW I used some yesterday morning and there didn't seem to be too much stuff hanging about 'up there' by yesterday evening. I'm also heading towards DTD on the first positive OPK but I'm not 100% on that yet. On other sites they'll tell you that's boy timing

Yeah I know, I am getting a bit put off that now myself... I am thinking of dtd on the days that its getting darker but not actually on the first positive one......I think we may try for a o+12 although my mum got preg with my brother after ovulation and she told me that with two of us girls she dtd about 2 days before ovulation. She had 3 girls and 1 boy! Will see but i am sure i didnt give myself much of a chance last month i was using acijel every 4 hrs pretty much for 4 days!!!!!!!! We did have a 2.5 day cut off.

That is kinda up to you. For a cutoff, the closer to attempt day you are, the less RepHresh you should use (depending on how big a hurry you are to get pg, that is.) So if you're the night before your attempt, or it's morning and you're going to BD that night, you might want to only use 1/2 or even 1/4 an applicator. If you're just a couple hours away from your attempt, you might want to use only a fingertip. You're trying to time it so you can use the RepHresh in advance of O so it will keep working for the full 3 days, without using too much of it too close to your sway. Hope that makes sense.

If you are trying to DTD right on O or are going to DTD repeatedly through O, you might want to use more RepHresh than you would with a cutoff because the sperm is not going to have to survive for as long, there will prob. be more sperm to make it to the egg, and you might have more EWCM to help the sperm survive. You might want to use a full applicator 1-2 days before your attempt. But it can still keep you from getting pg so you must weigh the

Example, so if you were going to O on day 17 and you wanted a 3 day cutoff (either with several attemps or just one), you could use a 1/2 or 1/4 applicator on CD 14 or 15, and IF YOU WANT TO you might want to use a fingertip 1-2 hours before you DTD. Then don't do anything else until you O 2 or 3 days later, because the RepHresh will continue to work for the 3 days until O.

If you were going to DTD just once at O, you could use a full applicator 2 days before you O and then nothing else (or a fingertip 1-2 hours before BD if you want to). If you were going to do frequent BD through O, you would prob. want to use a full applicator every 3 days, starting after AF and timing the doses so you have a day or two before O.

Gee Thanks so much for that! I am getting a bit scared to go thru o even on o day. I think I will stick with.. well will try for a 2 day cut off... So saying i o day 17 will stop morning of day 15 it may even be a 2.5 day cut off again. I will go with half of the applicator I will use that on day 14. If i do stick with that is it ok on O day just to use one finger tip of it if i see my ph go up or am i best not to use it at all after my cut off? I just dont want to do what i did last time.... I was using acijel every 4 hrs for 3 or 4 days... That would of blown my chances?

If you O on day 17, using day 14 and attempt on day 15 would be just perfect. I wouldn't check my pH again after my attempt. I really, truly wouldn't. All it does is make you crazy and try to control things that aren't controllable, because there is NO WAY that a fingertip of anything can alter the pH of your entire reproductive tract, all the way up into the Fallopian tube where the sperm is going to meet the egg.

By the time O day rolls around, the sperm will be long gone after the egg. They know it's there as soon as it's released and swim up after it. You're welcome to put a fingertip up there but it's like closing the barn door after the horse has escaped

Using Acijel or anything every 4 hours for 3 or 4 days will pretty much kill off all the sperm. Acijel is great if you want to BD through O or if you're going for O+12 but I really really do think that with a cutoff, RepHresh is the way to go, have your husband hide your pH sticks, then just make yourself get very very busy doing relaxing things that you enjoy!!!

You have given me so much more confidence now . THANK YOU!!.. I will stick with that plan i would much rather do the cut off as ds I am sure was around or on o day. Thanks again for taking the time to explain all that to me!! And I will NOT check my ph level after dtd i have gone through so many of those sticks! ha ha.
