If you've been checked out and do not have any infections going on, it is believed that diet is primarily the culprit. So if you eat a lot of meats, eggs, garlic, beer, coffee, etc that can come through and cause odors in various bodily fluids. BO can also be affected by what you eat rather dramatically (as I learned once when my husband and I were camping and he ate nothing but salsa and beer for like 3 days)

The remedy is eating pineapple and parsley, and taking chlorophyll supplements. I would also suggest trying a yogurt douche (just insert a spoonful or two of the all-natural, plain yogurt with the good bacteria in it, like Mountain High brand) once or twice, and then following up with a good probiotic (probiotics are a good idea when swaying anyway.)

Aside from this, something I have personally experienced is that after we've had a baby or two, bladder control may be an issue. Some days are fine and then other days one might sneeze or cough and then there is a bit of leakage which may have an odor itself, and moisture allows bacteria to grow which also causes odor. For some people, shaving helps, and for others, shaving actually aggravates the problem.
Thanks so much for the help. I have asked every OB I've gone to and know one will even address the question they just kind of brush me off. I know it's nothing serious because I'm healthy otherwise, I have had healthy pregnancies, no STDs, no infections but I've just always wanted to know. It probably is diet although I just can't figure out what exactly in my diet because my diet has changed quite a bit over the years (this has been going on since I was a teenager). I used to eat no meat, use to not like coffee, don't really care for garlic, eggs occasionally, never been able to stomach beer. I do eat more meat now and have 1 cup of coffee a day. But also over the years I've done several diets a couple (weight watches and atkins) that I know I followed really well because I lost 40-50lbs but the odor has always been there. I will try the probiotic and yogurt though to see what happens.

To Amari: No I haven't started any sort of sway yet and I am interested to see what will happen.

There are other offenders like beans, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, onion, etc but I just dashed off those few very quick. Anything that contains sulfur or iron can cause odors because those minerals have a smell to them.

Try the probiotic and yogurt and just see if it helps, if not, you can try the chlorophyll supps - there is a kind where they come with papaya and they're actually pretty tasty and help with heartburn.

PS - you can have bladder control issues even before you have children. Women who've never had children still have similar issues. It's part and parcel of being an animal that walks on two legs rather than 4 - pressure is put onto places that can't always take it!

Thanks so much for the help. It's crazy to me that none of the 4-5 OBs I've asked this question have had any answer and it's so simple. I will have to try to probiotics and yogurt because I know it has to be diet but I really cannot pinpoint what exactly in my diet it is because like I said my diet has changed so much and this has gone on for a while.

Yes, probiotics are a good addition to EITHER sway.

Pineapple is pretty nutrient dense and prob. not the best choice for the girl diet, but on the LE Diet, anything in moderation is allowed.

I have come to realize after being on these boards for 4 years now, OBs are really NOT super knowledgeable about stuff like this unfortunately. It's probably not any one food, just that your body is more prone to reacting to various things you eat in this fashion.
