me too I have never had a surgery(knock knock on wood) and probably would freak. one of the major reasons i didn't get an epideral w/ my first even w/ nurses and everyone in my ear being unsupportive and offering a million times. no way they were puting that thing in my back lol

Atsaukina lol about your comment "no way there were putting that thing in my back". I felt the same way and the next go round I am sticking to my guns. There is NO WAY I am letting them put that thing in my back again, lol

I didn't want to have a needle pierce my spinal membrane either. With DS1, I wasn't at all prepared for the pain and was hollering for the epi as I was being wheeled through the hospital doors. With DS2, I did a lot of research about labour and delivery and what it could be if you were prepared and relaxed. I opted to stay home with #2 because I figured that if I was in a place that couldn't offer me an epi, than I couldn't very well ask for one. I figured the best way to steer clear of the epi and any other interventions was to steer clear of the hospital itself. To each their own, though. I don't expect that EVERY woman would choose what I did. Like Hoping said, as long as they get here happy and healthy, that's all that matters in the end.

I hate IV's cvd but guess what...mine wasn't all that bad. Usually people have to stick me like 5 times in order to hit a vein so I was mortified to know that I had to do the IV. Well I had an amazing nurse and she got it in one try. Phew! Now with my son, I labored for 16 hours before I even asked for anything. I did two doses of stadol or Demerol...not sure which it was and then after about 19 hours I said forget this...give me the good stuff. Unfortunately, the epi didn't work and I was still in pain until I delivered...another 3 hours later, lol. As some friends of mine said, I hope I fart and this one comes out

So yes cvd after hearing all of that drama then surgery does sound nice.

Ah!! That's what happened to me, they tried to put it in 4 times I think before it would take, my veins kept "closing" they said. Ouch. Seems like hours when that happens haha I hope I get a nurse like yours this time! I hope this labour is easy for you!!

It's less than 24 hrs away now, lol. Yip - 1 pm Thursday for me. I could be in the depths of depression this time tomorrow : ( So anxious. Glad I have you all to share with. We are not telling friends or family - my Mum thinks we are selfish, and my MIL had a few choice words to say also. I dont care, if it's boys I can't cope with the thoughtless feedback.

I will check in tomorrow morning prior to leaving the house! XX
