Hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day! I enjoyed eating too many calories and am ready to start fresh tomorrow! Going to attempt to channel a chilled out, low calorie eating, cardio lovin' mama for the next few weeks until next attempt!

You guys are so spot on with the exam analogy, it really sucks!

Looby please do not worry about coming and saying your true feelings here. This is what it is for, I have also been prone to lots of moaning and then worrying about it but we need to get out our feelings otherwise we will go mad. Your feelings are totally valid but this is probably the only place we can spill everything and no-one will judge. With the one attempt, are you BD every 4 days or are you using an OPK and waiting for the positive? I had decided to BD whenever and then once at positive OPK as we cant do the every 4 days thing, it puts too much pressure on. Only problem is I am not great with OPKs either lol. Remember that bread is good for LE diet so you can indulge in that guilt free

Marika - so sorry to hear the issues you have had with the sticks and AF coming. Its awful that we spend all this time getting our hopes up. DHs do not understand what we go through month to month, even if they want the baby just as much. For some reason they can be more relaxed about it. I think you are right dropping FR and J&D because together they may be lowering sperm count too much. You are DEFINITELY right keeping the wine

girliedreamz - its such a fine line between lowering and lowering too much and of course everyones body chemistry is different so we just dont know how much is too much either... maybe a month or two off is what you need, if you have time to spare (not vintage like me lol)

happy mothers day to those of you celebrating it, hope you got spoiled

yes I am back at work now (boo) we arrived at gatwick at 2.15am yesterday, had to wait 2 hours for our luggage so we finally got back home at 5.30am yesterday morning. Had about 2 hours sleep and then spent the day unpacking and chilling and trying not to eat too much. But I did start the day with cake leftover from the holiday and then ended the day with 2 massive pieces of birthday cake that DH brought home from a party! Was surprisingly easy to exercise this morning

I feel so so so SO lost. And really flat & miserable & dare I say depressed. I feel like nothing I do will be enough. And like the biggest failure. My body is screeching for protein (I normally eat paleo) and I have no energy to do any exercise. My fitness has taken the biggest dive since starting this & I'm just so hungry & miserable. And I don't know what I'm really meant to be eating as I'm waiting on my Personalised Plan. This week I will ovulate so I realistically have 4 more weeks before we start TTC... I'm scared & I just want some structure while trying to remain relaxed (as don't want to stress myself into the "boy zone") & trying to be patient as I know poor atomic has been moving which is an enormous & crappy job, especially with kids in tow. I just feel horrid.

I feel much the same PrimalMamma, like nothing I do will be enough and I'm so over the diet. I also usually eat high protein and low carb and lots of healthy fats (missing my coconut oil and oats) and things like curries which are full of tomato, onion, garlic, coconut creams etc!

Your personalised plan itself doesn't have much more about the diet but the 21 day meal plan does (did you get that too?) but from what I've seen your eating looks ok. 😊

Remember there really is no banned foods and as long as your calories, fat and protein are low and you're not eating too nutritiously then you'll be fine.

Stir fry with low sodium sauces and rice, corn tortillas with veggies, rice and some beans are good, homemade pizzas on mountain breads or corn tortillas, bread (toasted sandwiches), mushroom soup, pastas with veggies cooked in butter or a little pesto & cream, fried rice type dishes are all some ideas and things DH and I have..

And I have a new found addiction to pop tarts!! 😉

It is hard to do all this knowing it's still no guarantee and trying to stay relaxed through it all too is impossible!! Have a nice warm lavender bath and a glass of wine and know you're not alone in your feelings at all!

    xx

PrimalMamma - I am sorry to hear you are miserable from what I have seen on the what are we eating thread you look to be doing fine? How much protein are you allowing yourself? Although atomic recommends 40-50g protein, I found that too hard to stick to so I go up to 60g - remember that less is still less. If you were eating a high protein diet before you would have been in excess of 100g per day so if you go down to 60g it is still less. What protein do you miss? Is it specifically meat or other sources?

As mumofsix says there is a 21 day eating plan which will just tell you what to eat if you find that easier? Is the what we are eating thread helping at all as there are now a few posting so its great to steal ideas?

I promise it does get easier but then I have been doing this for a long time now...you will find yourself getting used to it but it takes time to fine tune, in the beginning I kept making mistakes and didnt know what to eat. The positives I have taken away is that actually I love veggies anyway and have found some new vegetarian meals and recipies which I really enjoy. I love eating and love food so I have just tried to maximise the salad/veggie eating so I will be filling up on 'free' food (especially free protein) so that I can use the allowances for other yummy things. Also soup is a great filling option if you like low fat veggie soups.

I constantly think that whatever I do wont be good enough - but to be honest there are no guarantees anyway, by doing this we may be getting ourselves to 60% or if very lucky 70% chance to conceive a DD so there is no point in worrying over the minute detail of whether you are over on something sometimes.

Also - make sure you have at least one day a week where you cheat and enjoy that protein!!! I try to stay in totals and vegetarian from monday to thursday then at the weekend I do my best but am usually over. I have been doing it too long to remain strict all the time. Atomic doesnt intend for people to be starving and miserable and you will get to a point where you can make it work for you.

Hi all, thanks so much for your amazing understanding. It's such a rollercoaster all of this.

I'm at work so haven't got time to post a decent reply but wanted to say thanks.

Totally get how you're all feeling too.

Re diet - you all sound like you're doing well. I keep reminding myself of Atomics light switch v radio dial analogy. Although I think my radio is turned right down!!! It helps though.

Sorry this is short, work beckons boo!

Steph - hope first day back to work is going ok.

I'll try and check back in later. Xxx

Thanks for all understanding my little "Pity Party for One" lol. Stephk I miss meat & eggs. The problem is I have no self control when it comes to meat I can't eat a "little" steak I can eat a cow. I can't eat a little bit if chicken, I can eat a chicken. Well maybe not quite but you catch my drift. My old self would have at least 2 eggs for breakfast & then bone broth with more meat & veggies for lunch, lots of fruit to snack on & then a meat & veggies dinner (like a roast or corned beef or pulled pork or something). No grains, no legumes, very low carb. So as you can see I have essentially turned my diet on its head. I ate that way after years of depression, acne, irritable bowel etc & so not only am I struggling with the food I'm also emotionally struggling, my skin is breaking out so I feel ugly & I'm farting for my country (sorry for the TMI). I just feel disgusting. All of this is driving me to drink more... Yes I know alcohol sways pink but it also sways depression, hungoverness & general apathy. So yeah that's what's going on for me. Right now I feel like packing it all in & eating a steak but I know I will always wonder "What if..." If I do that & have another boy.

Primalmamma I think if you really want a steak have one. One day is not going to ruin your sway. In fact it'll help you stay on le diet longer. If you are really struggling on the diet you could try the pcos version of the diet. It seems to be a little less carb orientated which might help you. Might be worth a try. You could also leave out the white carbs and just eat mainly low fat veggies and steamed rice etc. Sorry you're feeling down. If I was you I would take a huge cup of hot choc in to bed early and relax for the evening. Will do the soul a world of good. x

Primalmamma - i promise you it will get easier. Also there is no reason why the LE diet has to be unhealthy, you can eat your fill of fruit and veg. You said that you used to snack on lots of fruit - theres no reason why you cant have as much fruit as you want. You can also have eggs, in fact atomic recommends 4 eggs a week on the PCOS/fertility version of the diet. 2 medium eggs have 12g protein so its not difficult to fit them in if you really want them. Instead of the bone broth have a low fat veggie soup with some salad and more veg (although a bone broth probably doesnt have very much protein anyway so probably OK? you might want to check with atomic on that one). How about a veggie stew or chickpea curry - i have a great recipie which I posted on the what are we eating thread but it was a while ago, i can post it again if it helps?

regarding the meat/steak - give it to yourself once a week. Even twice a week would be fine. You will then be able to stick to the diet the rest of the time and really look forward to it. I have had steak on more than one occasion since starting the diet. Atomic says that cheating is mandatory on the LE diet. I cheat every single weekend.
