I will say this, I am glad I didn't sway with my first. I really wanted a girl for my first baby and had I known about swaying I would have tried to sway. I have 1 DS and I always say God knew what he was doing when he gave me DS.
I WISH I had had my boy first, I think I would feel very differently about gender if I had had them in different order. I tend to think it's great to have older boys and younger girls, from what I've seen in the families around me. Instead I've got it the other way around, and the girls are very bossy and dominant towards the boys-hard on the little boys!

HollyBerry, lots of people say stress can delay ovulation, as can being sick, have you had a cold or anything? Perhpas you could try a couple of baths, deep breathing (or a glass of wine for a couple of days I know not on the diet) and see if any form of relaxation helps? My O tends to move around-I breastfeed and am very stressed, I am charting and temping and have OPKs but I feel it won't be enough-so I am getting a fertility monitor again. It was how I got pg with my first child.

My husband really wants a boy first, I think that makes sense and would love to have one first. I'm just worried I'll never get my girl, so I figured I'd start increasing my odds now! Once I have my girl, I don't care about the gender of the others (however, I wouldn't mind 3 girls!!!).

4wildones - I have been fairly stressed lately due to various things, I probably need to chill out! Will try some relaxation and/or distract myself with other things. I really want to buy a fertility monitor but haven't even started trying yet, so will probably purchase some OPKs (for $10 on Amazon you get 40 OPKs and 10 HPTs!). Thanks for the advice and reminder to relax :-D ....also, did you do anything differently for conceiving your daughter v. son?

I hope I did not sound too preachy hollyberry! I am really jsut thinking of things taht might help. Yes, my own dream family would be 3 or 4 girls, but I grew up in a family of 4 girls, and it wasn't that fun and no one is close to anyone now . My kids seem to benefit from being exposed to the opposite gender.
GL with your relaxation, I need a big dose of it myself, I'm terrible at relaxing.

No, the only difference looking back at my charts is that I had longer follicular phases with my daughters, they were 17 days) like what you are experiencing now. Nothing else. Tons of EWCM, even robitussin and rear entry with DD#1 and big O!, hips propped up with DS #1, with DD#1 and DD#2, and this last baby was an admittedly skimpy application of spermicide on a diaphragm close to O that resulted in a boy, even though I left the diaphragm in place for over 6 hours. That's why I am so baffled, I have nothing to indicate that anything sways one way or the other. I have 2 of each with no special timing. I am a vegetarian and have always been very thin. My DH does have a varicocele, and I thought we'd have all girls, but no! Wanted to add, I was breastfeeding when TTC #2,3, and then 4 (hopeful oops baby) and I took vitex with #2 (boy) and I think B6 with #3...So I am NOT a good barometer for anyone, except for those who are looknig to accept that the world balances itself out!

Oh no worries, you did not sound preachy at all!!! I'm new to the whole world of TTC, so I'm open to advice and suggestions. I feel bad because I can't help others as much as they help me since I don't have any kids of my own yet. However, it's very comforting having all of these experienced moms on-hand, lol.

Interesting to hear how you conceived different genders, makes me feel a lot better. My sister says she has a strong feeling that I'll have a girl first, so we'll see :-) My mom passed away when I was 8 years old, so I think that's why I'm wanting a daughter so badly...to renew that bond with my own baby girl. I'm sorry to hear you aren't close with your sisters :-( That must be tough!

Hi hollyberry, i think it's really tough when you ttc first time, wondering how quickly it will happen and if everything will be ok. I know a TON of people who took a very long time to conceive because they were stressed out. I think you should chill and do a VERY loose diet and hopefully this will help you ovulate and conceive your first beautiful, precious bub! You never know, maybe your natural fate is all girls but if not and you get a boy believe me they are amazing and many things are nit at all what you expect. Good luck to you, keep us informed!

Thanks for your kind words, swish! Yes, it's extremely nerve-wracking TTC for the first time, let alone swaying for a particular gender. We're also trying to pay off some debt so that I can stay at home when baby #1 comes along, so that's another stressor...I'm too overloaded right now. I just added whole milk to my diet to encourage ovulation, so hopefully that will help. Other than that, yes, I'm going to loosen up on the diet and try to enjoy the journey of TTC :-) Will keep you posted!

    Everyone has anovulatory cycles occasionally.

Three weeks on the diet is NOT enough time to affect your ovulation. Could it happen, of course, anything is possible. I think it is much more likely that it is the stress/anxiety/anticipation over TTC that has postponed your O.

I agree with this. I really don't think it's diet at this stage of the game. I've seen people on the diet for months and months and they all kept ovulating fairly regularly.

Do what your gut is telling you is right, but I hate to see you give up on diet when the odds are that it is STRESS that is delaying your O.

Whatever happens, I promise that raising a boy is a marvelous experience and so awesome every day.

ITA, with Atomic, I want to say, even though I want another girl, I think it is mostly due to my own warped reasoning and nasty background, my older little boy is very dear to me, he is so loving, he doesn't hit me, (yes my 8 yo old daughter actually still scratches and hits us all!) and he doesn't throw screaming tantrums like my 3 yo DD. He is different, very active, and I don't understnad him as well, but perhaps that is because *I* am nuts and was brought up surrounded by only girls and a very distant father. I think a first boy would be a blessing. Truly. All children are wonderful, and your aspirations are totally understood as I wouldn't be on here wanting another DD ifthey weren't lovely, but I just want you to know you'll get a "good deal" when you get a BABY! They are so precious. Best of luck to you!
