I have people make comments a lot as well but I honestly have to say that I really don't take offence very often at all...I just think about how much the comment says about THEM and how THEY feel moreso than about me.
It makes me look at their family dynamic and helps me work out what their GD malfunction is/was/could be.
If they are strangers and their comment really bothers you, recognising the reason behind them saying what they did can help you throw the question or comment back at them.
If they ever overstep the mark I am honest with them and tell them I would love a little boy but I love having my 2 girls close together and best of friends.

You will always come across those people who are just plain rude...when they are I think they have just given you permission to be rude right on back.
I LOVE how quick you were with your comeback Hoping4aPrincess. Some people just need to be shut up.

For those who are repeat offenders though ie; people you know and not total strangers I think you can always just turn around to them and let them know that they have brought this topic up multiple times now and to be honest it's getting a little old. Make them stop and think about what they are saying because I really do think there are some people just make comments to initiate converstation with a topic that they can relate to...doesn't mean they shouldn't be put in their place when they do it time and time again though.

I think it's a shame that it is all so taboo to admit you would love a certain gender...it doesn't automatically mean that you don't love the children of the gender you already have.

I totally agree Grasshopper and I think most of us only strike back at those who are particularly rude.
When it comes to repeat offenders sometimes no comment can make them stop. I heard my first "when are you going to have a boy" when my first dd was 30 days old. It didn't stop till my u/s in Sept. confirming my little guy's on board. For 9 1/2 years we heard it and there was no getting them to stop and this was my husbands own family. Sad to say I heard my first "you going for a second boy" on Christmas Eve and even though we told them we're not having any more I know it won't stop for a while. Some people will never let it go.

Geez, I really can't stand insensitive comments. Why do people feel the need to comment on someone else's family make up anyway?
For what it's worth, I think you have an awesome family make-up. I bet your little boy is adored by his big sisters.

I just came across these comebacks on the Internet and thought I would add to this thread. I particularly like the one about having a cat that burped glitter

Are you sure you're not having twins?! You're so big!

Shhh, it's actually a litter of puppies but don't tell anyone yet.

No, I actually have a condition called "Ur-a-dick". Google it. It's spelled the way it sounds.

Did you say "twins" or "violins"? Oh, okay I guess both sounded kind of stupid.

    Is the nursery ready?"

No, the baby isn't going to be staying with us.

Yep, the sock drawer is all ready to go!

Sort of, we're just waiting for the electric fencing to be installed.

"You must have wanted a girl/boy instead"

Actually, I was hoping for a kitten that could burp glitter.

Yes, I'm having a custom t-shirt made that says "I got pregnant and all I ended up with was this perfect baby boy/girl".

I'll just trade it for something else in the hospital.

    "You're just hormonal."

Shall I tell your family that those were your final words?

"I was simply hormonal, your Honor. I didn't mean to stab him in the neck with a pencil."

I think you mean "ormornal". The "h" is silent when you're speaking in moron.

"How are you going to handle another one?!"

We're selling the oldest one on eBay.

Oh, it will be fine. I drink a little.

I just won't pick this one up when it cries. I figure that will free up a lot of my time.

How ya feeling? (with a head tilt).

    I don't know, I'm still a little drunk.

    Strangely violent today.

It's funny that you should ask that (then abruptly walk away).

"You should NOT be drinking caffeine." (or doing, eating, touching, etc. something else that's none of their damn business).

Oh my gosh, Th...ank YOU! Are you SURE? I had NO idea. My doctor said it was fine, thank god you are here to save me from-what is it exactly the caffeine will do?

The Voices say I can have caffeine. I don't fuck with the Voices.

    Decaf make PREGNANT HULK SMASH!!!!!!!!

You shouldn't be wearing those jeans (etc.) but I didn't bring that to your attention.

This is the best I can do since kicking the methamphetamine habit.

It's not caffeine. It's doctor prescribed laxative tea because this pregnancy is making me so constipated I have hemorrhoids. Oh, sorry, was that too much information?
    You're right, tequila is better.

Lol they are so funny will be using a few of them!

I went into my work the other day and this young girl works there and said oh when are you going to have your next baby you going to have a girl this time!
    I completely snapped!
'Omg I don't even want a baby yet plus I didn't know you could just order a girl did not get that memo, you must tell me your secret recipe so I can use it next time! (she doesn't have kids) And do you actually have a problem with my boys? I'll let them know there not good enough for you!'
Maybe to much but I'm hormonal lol
She didn't say another word to me
