Yeah Braxton hicks are normal - Only these ones seem to actually be affecting my cervix, but how much we don't know atm. I'm so disappointed by the antenatal care provided in my trust!
Gurly - How did the CVS go? When will you get the prelim. answer?
I don't really have anyone. I've never been great at making friends, and since coming to the UK I've constantly felt like the odd one out. I never seem to fit in anymore - at the school gates its divided into British mums, Eastern European mums, the Indian/Pakistani mums (I'm not sure where they are from) and the Chinese mums. And I'm Scandinavia! So I fit in nowhere despite trying to talk to the other mums =/ At the very most I get questions about Danish pastries and that's about it :P
Family is terrible complicated, so its really just me.

I am so sorry to hear what you're going through Tiggerian. I am crossing my fingers and toes for you that everything turns out all right. I don't know what your financial situation but would it be possible to to hire a part time maid/nanny. Just so you have some extra help around the house when when DH isn't home? Don't worry about what your house looks like. You should see mine! LOL I have had zero energy and if I try to get up and clean I start to feel sick and nauseous. I will keep you and your little one in my thoughts.
11 weeks today and I have not been feeling to hot at all. I haven't been vomiting but I have been constantly nauseous whether I eat or not. I am soooo tired! No matter how much sleep I get. I am actually feeling like a horrible mom and wife lately cause I haven't been cleaning or cooking. If I try to get up and clean or do anything around the house I feel so sick. I feel like a lazy person because the past couple weeks I have been barely able to get off my couch. Mainly from the exhaustion. Sigh. I hope I really start to feel better in the next few weeks.Aug 2009

I'm feeling the same exact way! I can't get out of bed. CONSTANT nausea. I was going to ask anyone if they've found and good cures for nausea. I almost can't function.

The actual CVS went ok. It was quick and only hurt/cramped for a short time.
The appointment was a nightmare though. The geneticist ordered a test we didn't request, when I walked in the receptionist demanded a check for over $1,000. I said insurance covers the test (minus the co-pay). She had a snotty attitude and called the geneticist in the other office who insisted I HAD to get that test done. She was on some ego trip and wanted to call the shots I guess. That was stressful and wasted time but I got it sorted out.
Then I got back there and was reprimanded by the tech for not (and I quote) "asking permission" before going potty. Turns out I didn't even need a full bladder for the procedure. And it gets even better. DH took off half a day to come with me so I wouldn't have to drive home and in case something happened, so he came in for the u/s and then took DD out in the hall during the procedure. He accidentally walked out with my pants and underwear in the diaper bag so when it was over I couldn't get dressed. The rude tech who yelled at me for peeing told me I had to wipe off the gel and go empty my bladder even though I couldn't get dressed. I had to go to the bathroom with that paper wrapped around my waist while carefully walking with my back facing wall since half of my ass was uncovered. Then I came back to the room and cried while I tried to pull myself together. I poked my head out and told one of the receptionists that DH was just out in the hall and could she tell him to come in with my clothes. No one would do it. Finally I caught the doctor who said I could call him on the phone in the room - wouldn't you know it, there was no cellphone reception.
Eventually DH just came back figuring it was over and I told him what happened. He said he was literally outside the office in the hall and no one tried to get him. Obviously we decided to never go back there. Thankfully they are not delivering me, they are just supposed to do the testing and specific scans because I'm high risk but I'm going to find someone else for the rest of it because they are so awful.
That was a long story but boy I needed to get that out! So, for now I'm just resting and hoping everything is okay after the CVS. I'm supposed to get the results in a week, hopefully they don't screw me around with that. The baby was super cute though. It had it's legs up in the air and was doing this bouncing motion after the doc made my uterus bounce up and down with the probing. I got a cute u/s pic, maybe I'll post it to get gender guesses for fun.

Aw what a fab pic, im so sorry they made you feel like that Gurly, som places are all about the money!!
Tmb, i know how you feel, i thought i was done a few weeks back, apparantly not!! Lol.
Tiggerian, there is no gap in care if you are in the uk - up to 16 weeks the epu deal with you, after that its the hospital birth unit. As a EU member you are entitled to the same as us im sure, and that is what both my midwife and the epu told me. They may not like dealing with someone so early on but its tough!!
Plus there is always a&e, they get hold of the right department for you if you go there (although they tend not to be as sensitive - just as they have so many things to do in a day!)
Fingers crossed they stop soon!
Ive got my 12 week scan on friday, excited about it this time, no doubt ill be a bag of nerves friday morning!!

Ribena - thats just not true where I live. Trust me! I called the EPU, I called antenatal, I called triage (birth unit), I called out of hours GP, A&E and NO ONE would see me. I ended up seeing my GP who confirmed there is NOWHERE i can go at this stage unless I start bleeding - if its spotting I'd have to go back to my GP and she'd TRY to send me to the gynae department, if its proper bleeding its A&E to confirm miscarriage. That's how it is. I got this confirmed later at the hospital too.
Between 16 and 20 there is a gap in care and they admitted that too - but due to cost and cuts they couldn't do anything about it.
We've decided to buy a private scan and will be going on Tuesday to see how baby is doing. Still cramping but they don't last as many hours and are shorter in duration, hopefully that's a good sign.
Gurly - I'm mortified at the treatment you received! Its in no way dignified and I don't even know what to say... =( Good its over and done with so you won't have to go back there again!2005

This is my second baby in the UK, so I know I'm entitled to the same care - that's never been an issue. No one has ever questioned my entitlement, the problem is that the care simple isn't there. They refuse to see you - if you turn up they send you home.

I got a message from the geneticist (glad I missed the call cause I really don't want to talk to her!) Anyway, she said the preliminary FISH results came in and it all looked normal which is good news. DH is upset now because the FISH results are not covered by insurance and we didn't request it, we were planning on waiting the 1-2 weeks for the full results, but this geneticist is always trying to get us to spend more money. So we will be getting a big bill.
She did not say the gender which of course I'm curious about. I'm going to get DH to call back tomorrow when they open and find out. Do FISH have gender results? I thought they did test for the sex chromosomes....
