I had a really hard time believing it too - not so much that it was a girl but that I just couldn't believe it was all going to work out happily, I was sure something terrible would happen!! (I still think that sometimes and she's 7 years old now!) The GD still can mess with our heads even after we get our desired gender! Hugest congrats - I'm over the moon for you!

Atomic it’s strange you say this as I have felt weird since I found out I’m getting a dd. Almost like it’s happening to someone else and not really me. I’m scared that I won’t love her as much as I love my boys and she’ll change the dynamic of my family. Then I feel guilty for feeling like that and just wish I could feel happy. I guess it’s because we only wanted 2 children but hubby agreed upon a third because of my GD so it’s my ‘fault’ if you like if it all goes wrong.
I’m so excited to be getting a DD but feel such mixed emotions as I don’t want it to negatively impact on ds1 & 2. I really hope they adjust and she slots into our family ok.
Sorry to jump in on your post, just rang true that GD issues can still exist even when you get your desired gender..

Those are all very normal feelings. A lot of us have also had feelings of guilt after the baby was born (I still struggle with this) if it was inconvenient or financially taxing to have more kids - like if only we could have given up this dream we could have given more to our boys, and also resentment where we think "if only this would have happened sooner" IKYKWIM. Not that we would trade our boys but just this overall feeling that life is just harder because we didn't get our desired gender in a timely manner.
But that having been said, my DS4 and DD are really the best of friends. My 3rd boy is a human dynamo and is really bossy, so it's nice that DS 4 has DD to be pals with. The dynamic can be very much improved by adding another person!!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
