Thanks essence! That's exactly what we've been doing - a cycle of eat/change, activity, sleep. When he gets fussy I know he's tired so we swaddle, walk/rock and sing until he's asleep. I think the problem becomes sometimes he goes to sleep and I put him down and he's right back up (doesn't do this at night). So I think his "cat naps" aren't enough and it's all catching up with him around 6pm. Then he physically WON'T go to sleep no matter what! We swaddle, rock, white noise and sometimes a pacifier (he hates!). We do a bedtime routine of bath, eat, book, but he still is just a madman. This week I'm going to just stay home and every hour he's going right back to sleep.

He's SO happy when he wakes up in the morning or has a great 3hr nap in the afternoon (usually sleeping on me!). He is a great sleeper at night once he goes down. It's just a lot at 6pm because my husband rarely sees the sweet boy during the day and both of us are exhausted by then too.

Yep! Massage with lavender lotion. I wasn't sure if this was just regular witching hour or something more?

PLEASE don't take EPO orally to induce labor, girls. I know this is a time honored midwife thing but it's controversial even among midwives (has not been proven safe OR effective) and EPO is a MAJOR blood thinner. I took EPO to induce labor with DS 3, not only did it not work (he came a few days late just like all 5 of my kiddos did) but I also had tons and tons of small red blood clots in my amniotic fluid. The nurses had never seen anything like it before and I have subsequently talked to some other people who took EPO and had similar issues with unexplained bleeding in themselves or their newborns.

Taytum I think that's just a rough age for some kiddos. It's like they realize "the rest of the world is up and moving and I am stuck here!!" They do get overtired for sure.

This too shall pass!! It is just a stage. He'll probably be an early walker, my two that were the most frustrated at this age walked early. (freakishly. early.)

Thanks atomic and blue!! I was so worried something was wrong with him. I finally saw in two different books I was skimming today that he's probably going through a growth spurt and all babies have some more difficulty around 5-11 weeks. We're in the thick of it at 7! Just going to go with the flow - I think he's been trying to cluster feed at night again so tonight we're just going to park in his room and camp out after his bed routine. Hoping in a few weeks I can post about how enjoyable he is! Right now he's kind of an a-hole! [emoji6][emoji170]
