Thanks Mia!indeed let's cross fingers for blue dust! In a way am happy we are not trying this cycle,DD2 is teething and is sick following the change of weather so it's sleepless nights for us ATM pretty much' which wouldn't be ideal for a sway..so hoping we all get a bit of sleep before we get I to the 6 weeks prior to 1st attempt hehe
Are you still at the stage of getting the info you need for your sway or have you got a tentative timing for trying #3? We need lots of Aussie blue swayers hehe

The weather has definately just changed and with daylight savings here too our DD2 has also been a bit thrown the last few nights. Yes I think I've nutted out our timeline for #3. I can't imagine having 3 at home logistically so want DD1 close to school age but also don't want them too far apart so will ttc this time next year. If we conceive then by the time #3 is born early 2019 DD1 will be 4.5 and DD2 almost 3. We can keep DD1 and 2 in daycare a few days a week and I can be home with #3. Then back to work 2020, DD1 will start school and DD2 and #3 can go to daycare. The cost of daycare is so astromonical that we realistically can't afford to have 3 kids going at once. I still need to loose a little weight from the last pregnacy and get some fitness back so spending the first half of this year doing that and incorporating some boy friendly foods and then will really get full swaying mid/late this year.

Hi ladies just catching up on what's been happening. Sorry if I miss anyone!
TP- apologies if you've covered it before - have the doctors checked your other hormones to make sure all is ok?
meaob - sorry to hear AF came [emoji20] I'm not sure about late ovulation and egg quality - I think it's all relative to cycle length if that makes sense? Have you tried acupuncture? I had great success with it when ttc my DD - shifted ovulation by 4 days.
Dancingdiva- sending you lots of blue dust! Fingers crossed for bfp!
LMSM - great news about your luteal phase increasing! I have my fingers crossed for you to for when you start trying!
As for me CD12 and opk getting darker (not quite positive yet) - much better than last month. We dtd on CD9 and are planning to again tonight. If opk is positive tomorrow should we do the 3 attempts in addition to tonight's attempt?
Good luck to all the blue swayers!

LMSM: Not actively weaning her -- she's been nightweaned and we're doing BLW, but she still nurses 4-5 times a day in varying lengths. I'm ideally going to keep nursing her for awhile longer.
Boywish: There's not really any need to check my other hormones. The thyroid is off and I have no thyroid, and the levels that are off are common causes of early miscarriages!

Hi everyone. I am Trina. I am a newbie here. DH and I have decided to start trying for our first baby in April/May. Yayyy! I am trying to sway for a boy if possible since I have always wanted a big brother since I was little. With that said, we would still be very happy with either gender.
My problem is that I cannot seem to pinpoint my ovulationI have used OPK to figure this out, but I am still so confused and hope you wonderful ladies could help me out.
When I get positive OPK, I can see/feel a little bit of CM at the cervix but no EWCM (sorry for TMI). And when there is EWCM, the OPK is negative...so what does it mean? Should I follow the OPK or CM? And how would I know if I actually ovulated for the cycle or not?
Also, I love salt and I always eat my food more on the salty side and lots of carbs and snacking. However, my DH tend to eat more bland and sweet stuffs (cookies, candies, milk chocolate, etc.). Would DH eating habit affect his sperm counts since I heard sweet food would produce more female sperms?
Lots of boy dusts to all of you ladies!

Hey Shinay, welcome welcome.
My understanding based on what we've seen on this site DHs diet has little affect on swaying. And definately not in the way that you might be thinking, Y (male) sperm and X (female) sperm are always produced in the same ratio. There is always 1 X sperm for every 1 Y sperm produced. Men can not produce more of one than the other.
I'm not an expert on pin pointing o but I'm under the impression there is always a bit of grey area to it and that only an ultrasound can pick it properly. I think temping is supposed to give a pretty good indication (I've never done this but there are plenty of women on here who are avid tempers). In terms of opk vs CM, I'm pretty sure I've read Atomic say somewhere that it does happen that EWCM can be present on days that are not consistent with o. If you get a +opk I'd go by that.DD1 (2014)

@ TP – just asking because of treatments you might need with the thyroid, not sure whether that would affect your ability to BF – but that seems to be all ok too ^^ we’ll probably be trying around the same time, then !
@ meoab – I second boywish re acupuncture – it helped me with my 1st – my cycles balanced themselves with it
@boywish – good to read youI’m hoping the betterment of my diet via HE is actually helping my overall fertility - ^^
What did you do in the end? I think there is no harm in DTD + those 3 attempts in case opk is positive – as long as your SO can manage that many “go’s” in a short span of time – you wouldn’t want him to run out of steam in case O is delayed a bit – so as long as you are confident he can manage all that BD!
FX !!
@miamelb – yeah, beautiful weather but it certainly doesn’t feel like summer anymore, especially at night, eh?! All that rain with ex Debbie sure cooled down the atmosphere – we had to get the doonas back out the other night :P
I can see you are all planned out for when to TTC for bub #3 – sounds like a perfect way to gear up for HE and co to have a great sway in place by the time you start TTC!!
I hear ya re daycare costs, it’s just ludicrous – with the 2 at the moment, I am only working 4d/w so have Fridays with them – what I lose in salary I make up by savings in daycare fees and paying less tax, more or less – plus bonus of spending time with my girls! I do have to cram 5 days’ worth of work in 4 as no one does my work whilst I am away but that is the sacrifice that has to be made, I guess ^^
If all goes to plan DD1 will start school in January – she is not automatically enrolled yet as she technically is a few weeks too young (born 30/07) but with some luck will start Prep then, so hope I can fall pregnant soon and have #3 early 2018 so can be home for her 1st year at school and only have DD2 at daycare until #3 starts too (at least part time so I can have one on one time with #3 while on mat leave) and then when going back to work, have #2 and #3 at daycare whilst DD1 is at school. It sounds terrible to have to plan like that, but you’re right, financially it’s not viable with 3 in care at the same time – and I would lose myself and my sanity being a SAHM 24/7 for years on end to be honest, it’s just not me – I am happy to do part time (would be happy with only 3 d/w but in my role that’s not feasible), that’s my happy balance – especially since we have no family at all to help, I would have no breather ever and work serves that purpose as well as being around adults/utilising my (sleep deprived) brain a bit ^^
@ Trina – welcome!
I always wanted a big brother growing up too – which is why I was so keen to have a boy 1st – but now have 2 girls haha
I would recommend, if you can, to also track your temperature – it will give you confirmation (though after the fact) of your ovulation which will allow you to be more predictive as to when you do actually ovulate.
The OPK can be positive up to 48h prior to the actual ovulation – so you may well have a positive OPK on say cycle day 12 but not ovulate until cycle day 14 or 15 – and get EWCM only the day of ovulation (some people have the fertile mucus for days others, have it only in the day before O and upon ovulation).
So I would combine the OPK and mucus – and confirm with the temp charting!
The recommendation for TTC blue is to DTD every 3 days or so from AF then upon 1st positive opk, DTD that night, next morning and following evening – so you get 3 attempts in your fertile window before that egg is gone !
I think the “male/female” sperm theory has been debunked so don’t worry about that – what you want is both of you to be at your optimal fertility which means you have to be in your best possible condition: I would read the wonderful essays Atomic has written on all this to get yourself familiar with it all – diet included - once you have done that, it will all make so much more sense than what I can convey in a few linesLucky Mummy to 4 sweet divas (2013) (2015) (2018) (2021) and 1 sweet boy (2024) that completed our family

Thanks Mia & LMSM. It is good that i don't have to worry too much about DH diet. I have been using BCP for the past five years, went off it last September so i could start tracking my temp but it is so weird...sometimes i can see the patterns (the dip and rise in temp after ovulations) but there are months where it just fluctuates up and down. And also my cycle length are mostly 30-31 days then it suddenly went to 45 days....not sure if BCP has messed up my body or i was stressing out since i just started to learn all these new things about my body and all these TTC stuffs. Since this is our first, i will just try my best with diet, temp and CM and see where things go. I will try to not go crazy on the sway thing and scare my DH hahaha.
My in-law family doesnt have girls for a few generations so they wouldnt mind having a girl for a change if my sway fails. But for now, i want my big boy first!
@LMSM: girls are so much fun as well. I bet your girls are amazing! You can do all the girly stuffs together. And there are lots of things that is better/easier to share with daughters.
And i am sorry if there is any error or unclear sentences as English is my second language.Last edited by shinay; April 6th, 2017 at 02:18 AM.

LMSM: Treatments are just tweaking my thyroid meds! Which are class A and don't affect pregnancy or breastfeeding. Which is good, because I'd be dead without them haha. So hopefully we will be getting our boys together! I saw your take on work -- that's totally me. Being solely a SAHM was never my plan, but being a WAHM is also way harder than I thought it would be. So nice to see you found a good balance!
