Mandy I've read and heard the same however I've also heard of 6 months ttc being something to go on to. And if you've had babies before they seem to think 'well we know you can get pregnant' so no use worrying about doing something till 6-12 months trying. I'm lucky that I've seen the same gp for 7+ years now and she's great! But in saying that even she wasn't willing to refer me to a fs until I'd been ttc for at least 3 months.

That seems to be the general train of thought with most docs doesn't it "Oh you already have kids so must be fertile" in fact the doc that I saw on Friday said that to me!!! And they should know as well as anyone that that isn't always the case. I would just like to have a definite answer either way so that I can move on, hopefully ill get that today. Thank you

Yes...strongly agree mandyp ...my sister in law is trying from 2 years she has pcos and her first one was conceived after 1 1/2 years . Every time she has to listen to the same stuff " u got one naturally ...tht means u r fertile blah blah"
This time she was 15 days late for her period and was very upset as she had one mc 3 months back but the doc refused simply by saying tht we cant do anything ...
By the way there is a family planning clinic which helped her and tested her blood and they were v helpful and all was free of charge ...

It's not fair at all is it, if someone is struggling to conceive they should be given help even if they have conceived naturally before, i hope your sister in law gets pregnant very soon, has she tried seeing a different doc? surely there is something they can do to help her after 2 years! my sister in law is also in a similar position, is currently on clomid (think it's her last cycle now) and she has said if she doesn't get pregnant this time she is just going to give up but I think her docs are quite good, shame they can't all be like that.
I have just got back from seeing my doc and she took blood to test for pregnancy so I should know tomorrow whether I am or not. She has told me to go back in two weeks pregnant or not so I'm hoping if I'm not pregnant we will have the discussion about where to go next. This doc is very relaxed about stuff and if she can help she will. So fingers crossed.2005
