That's cool!! I'm on way down the midwifery path as being a doula is VERY hard some days. I can't speak my mind and really speak up and for the women I help as I get looked at like a crazy "doula" who has no idea what she's talking about. Plus, I'm not a member of DONA or any other organization because they do not have a woman's best interest in mind. I am there for the WOMAN. Not the Dr's or midwives....If a woman wants to birth on the toilet...she should have a right to do so and I am willing to speak up for her and make that happen. It's very depressing here in the midwifery scene tooI am going to get all my schooling, attend and be a part of many births, learn as much as I can from other women and mothers..but I will not register. I will not let the government or the insurance agencies tell what I can and cannot do. If a woman with 3 previous c-sections wants a home waterbirth...then that's what she should have! I could care less what the Province of Alberta has to say. They(Government and Insurance agencies)have no place in birth......
Sorry...just my 2 cents!!! I'm pretty passionate about this
The thing with inductions is, they create unsafe cx's that really squeeze the baby unnaturally. Once a woman has pitocin introduced to her body, the natural oxytocin that the body is releasing is essentially "shut off". The baby never gets a break and the body never gets a break. It's NOT normal and very painful. Pitocin cx's are usually double the pain of regular cx's. This causes babies to have a very hard time in the womb. MANY babies have bad heart decels and need a section because of the pitocin cx's. Oh, and one more brutal fact.....never get induced on a Friday. Many babies are "pitted(pitocin) to distress".....this means(and I have nurse friends that KNOW this happens)that they pump you so full of pitocin that the baby gets distressed very quickly and needs a section...ON PURPOSE. Scary hey?
Also, when you force a baby out before he/she is ready, they are most often not in the optimal position for THEM. All babies adopt a position that works for them, some of them need to be born OP, some breech...you see what I'm getting atThe risk of stillbirth when beyond 43 weeks is still more favorable for mom and baby than an induction and/or c-section. I can get you the papers that prove it. Stand your ground and do what you feel is right. If you want to skip the induction....skip it! They cannot force you to go. YOU hire THEM. You are in charge. If the baby is doing well....waiting is the best option! xoxoxo
No offense...but your DH should have NO say when it comes to your birthYou birth the babies...it's your experience that you have to relive/live with for the rest of your life...you do what you feel is right. YOU know your body WAY better than any Dr. or Midwife. Trust that. I believe in you~And there are many other women that do too. You are strong...we all are
ETA- You are very welcome! I try to keep my birth rants to a minimum but some things really set me off!! I hate that women are being scared into procedures that they do not need...and that are often very risky for them and their babes.

Doulamama - that was a FREAKING awesome rant I love you! You sound like a fantastic doula
I was induced with ds2 as I had the lowest b12 levels my doctor had ever seen (not good) HOWEVER I refused the drip, I was 3 cm dilated anyway so I let them break my waters, they wanted to drip me straight away I refused and instead side walked, stomped and didnt stop moving for the next hour. They then tried again I said no as I had just had 1 CX....well I am glad i stood my ground 10 CTX and I was ready to push....not that they believed me, the MW said dont be stupid so I ignored her and got DH to push the call button - luckily a nice MW arrived gave me 1 look and said the babies coming! At which point I said something rather rude to the other mw
I know i was lucky with my induction as the baby was ready but i am also glad i can be a PITA and rather stubborn at times so stood my ground
Deaks - EVAP are we sure?? sung like the song "it aint over till its ooooooooover" everything crossed for you hun
Petal - labour vibes labour vibes labour vibes go you for standing your ground, my friend refused induction went to 16days over and had a homebirth....she is feisty - she did go in and have monitoring just to prove baby was ok

OMG! posted lots and lost it!!! argghhhhhhh!
Sorry not posted for days, hope ur all well? popped on/off inbetween my nightshifts but have pg brain and forgotten alot of it (sorry). I was super sick over my 2 nightshifts and could barely function yest! Head was thumping and was sick! But managed to get my act together to go with dh and the boys to the local fireworks display. Today I have booked a facial! Not had one for yrs, but my hairdresser has a new beautician in and they are doing half price treatments, so 45min facial for £12.50! Shame I have nasty pg hormone spots!
I have tons of stuff I could ebay to get some xmas cash, but haven't the concentration to list them! Not back to work till next sat/sun so hoping I feel better thru the wk to do it. Better go tidy up and do a washing before dh home from work, although he wouldn't say if I didn't, been quite good that I'm poorly, he helps out more, although he is good anyway!
Have a good weekend! x

Hi girls,
Petal ~ lots of labour vibes, maybe a long walk today may help. When I was induced with ds2 I opted for the pessary rather then the drip, it takes longer but it's not as bad as the drip so remember there are options, make sure your MW explains everything to you x
Deaks ~ sorry you got another bfn, loads of hugs. Has AF arrived? X
Maybe ~ I keep asking myself that very thing everydayI will need a new pram too, we've just sold our double pushchair so I will need a single now...what are looking at?
Sunset ~ safe journey home
Hows everyone doing in the 2ww? GL to everyone attempting soon x
My hubby bought me an iPad2 yesterday! So sweet of him.
Can't face going to a bonfire so having a few fireworks at home - at least I can stay in my PJ' s8
