    Re: minerals.

Magnesium in excess can cause diarrhea, fyi, which could deplete nutrients and sway pink. This more than anything has made me wonder if that's why people though it swayed girl. But it takes a decent amount to get to that -- people take magnesium therapeutically all the time for muscle issues and migraines without that issue.

Calcium: Sora, I just caution you to pin all your girls on calcium, or that's why people you know have boys. Calcium isn't just found in dairy -- it's found in a lot of other things, including seafood, vegetables (like broccoli!) and more. There's even been an actual study that linked more boys with diets of higher calcium. So do what you need to do, I just think thinking your eating of dairy is what gave you girls isn't accurate! It's never one thing and always down to odds (and to throw in an anecdote, I've read every single how we got our boys" post and there's TONS of dairy eaters in there. Tons. It's what made me not care about calcium for my sway, since I also had virtually none with DD! I was full on lactose intolerant before her!)

    Hi Ladies,

My DH and I decided last night that we are going to try for a fourth and fingers crossed another DS in October/November time.

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and learning what has changed since I last swayed blue. My little man is turning 5 very soon.

My biggest challenge now is to start exercising and lifting weights again. I am planning to start slowly back into kettlebells next week. And increase my egg intake.

Yes Pearl, since you already had sucessful sways, please do help enlighten us as to what we could do to be as lucky as you !

Panther : Thank you for your input. Yes calcium does exist in other foods, my doc insisted that even without dairy, I would and should get it from these other sources and that the goal was to get more potassium inside me, not deprive me of cal/mag whatsoever. I've read the posts too and it's true there are dairy eaters amongst boys' mom. Anyway I heavily suspect now that I swayed pink because of abstinency+one attempt+terribly low levels in vit/minerals for DD2 since it had only been 8 months since DD1's birth... But irrationnal though it may be, I can't shake the fear of swaying pink with dairy. Even though they do eat cheese and a bit of yoghurt, I can't help but notice that my friends get dairy in very small amount. + it often is diet dairy (skimmed and all) yet they have so many boys !!

I bet though it's because each of them are way into 9 servings of fruits a day ! I swear I've never seen so much fruits in one house haha !

Edit : What you said about magnesium and diarrhea reminds me of something my diet doctor mentionned -> he had a patient who tried to sway blue on her own but got an opposite. When going through her diet before TTC, he noticed that although her sway was near perfect, she was regularly drinking detox tea/draining herbal tea (she just wanted to keep an eye on her weight and health). He concluded she had washed all her nutrients down hence the failed sway. So I guess whatever you do, try to avoid things that would cause a loss of nutrients somewhere somehow...

Sora: I totally understand the irrational!! I really couldn't shake Shettles for awhile there since I had thought I made 2-3 attempts at O with DD -- turns out, knowing my cycle better and learning more since then (she was our first try TTC and I did nothing then), it was totally 2 attempts with a 2 day cut off. Not that much of it matters, since I was swaying SO pink unintentionally! I was relapsing into my eating disorder so barely eating anyway :/ Gah! Why did I waste so much time worrying about Shettles lol? My own sister was a shettles opposite!

Pearl: AHH! You're swaying again?! I feel like you're a GD celeb in my mind haha! So excited to see you active again!

It's so nice to see more blue swayers here! Hi Bromedha and Pearl! Looking forward to read your sway tactics

minerals: I try to stay relaxed about it. I have the idea of dairy = girls somewhere in the back of my head since I read it many times, but I also read about the many boy mums eating lots of it. I try not to think too much and stick to what atomic suggests (cereals with milk, yogurt for bedtime snack, cheese as a snack,...).

Anyway I find it interesting that it's about the potassium ratio. Sora, how do you keep track of that? Do you use apps/calculators or just try to ingest as much potassium as possible and hope it will be more than cal and mag?

What are your "potassium foods"? I think I should prefer these now since its my 2 final weeks to O-day.

Pearl: Did you exercise a lot with you blue sway. That is really the hardest part for me... I try to integrate it into my everyday life (lifting stuff and kids, doing some squats here and there), but I feel its not enough.
And lots of eggs? Thats what I'm doing already. An egg a day.....

tkelly: I'm sharing your excitement! Are you doing any "last minute" stuff? extra weight lifting, coconut water, guaifenesin, grapefruit juice, ..? lol That what I'm planning for AF-O.
Had some spotting last night which means AF will start any day.
    (thank you atomic!)

Aira : For the potassium, I try mainly to eat as much potassium as possible. I don't do supps cause even my doc said it is better to get it through diet than through other means and I saw a post from atomic that said something along those lines too if I remember correctly.

"Potassium foods" do cross over with what I've read here of boys' moms diets and what I've been able to observe IRL, that is mainly meat and fruits, potatoes, other veggies like pumpkin for example. Coffee is the richest drink potassium-wise but is also known to sway pinkso I stay away from it (no prob there, I HATE the stuff). On the other hand, dried fruits are quite the potassium source. Nuts too but they also do pack a lot of magnesium and as Panther pointed out, too much of that could give you diarrhea. I've heard nuts once a week is good enough but I often forget them ^^" ! You can also add beans, chick peas, lentils to the top of the list.

The only thing I could tell you is to just follow through with the meat twice a day, with beans/chick peas/lentils, and don't hesitate to snack on fruits (fresh, dried, juices)... My friends with boys all had huge cravings of fruits just before TTC. I remember two of them coming home with whole bags of pineapples, bananas, mangos not two weeks before conceiving. I was so weirded out but they were like "I don't know why, I usually love fruits but since starting TTC, I CRAVE them, all fo them !"

About exercises, I do squats but haven't started weights. It is a bit hard for me lately cause the kids and bouts of insomnia that leave me very tired during the day.
