BunnyGirl, I don't know if this helps but I know quite a few people who had a few soft markers for Down's and their babies were perfectly fine. I know I would feel like you do and I would decline the amnio too bc of the complications/risks that come with it. I say trust your instincts which seem to be that she is fine and see what ultrasounds reveal. I'll be thinking of you!!

No I'm actually pretty sure it's a boy...only because this pregnancy has been just like my boy pregnancy and not my girl pregnancy. Give me another week and I won't be buttoning anything. Lol. I think I've gained 2 or 3 lbs. My ms seems to be almost gone. Some things still randomly repulse me but that's it. I had a talk with my midwife today and she's recommending I go on a gestational diabetes diet because my last baby was 10 lbs. I don't know how I feel about trying to eat a certain way while I'm having tons of cravings:/

I've had an amnio around 34 weeks with all my pregnancies (except my last because I delivered at 30), so I'm not overly worried about the procedure itself. I just happened to read a study showing women pregnant with di/di twins had just under a 7% chance of miscarrying within 3 weeks of the procedure due to infections, which is much higher than the 1 in 300 odds of a singleton. I don't know if other studies had the same findings. I did read that redheads were more like to have an echogenic focus, but there were no numbers to back that up so it's probably an OWT. DH isn't worried that anything is wrong with the baby and I can't say I really feel worried either. It's more a matter of not having a definite answer that's going to drive me crazy. We ultimately decided to skip extra testing unless something else pops up to signal a concern.

I don't feel thin at all. I've gained 30 pounds already. It doesn't seem pissible though, because I'm still eating less than normal and I'd struggled with HG for at least 6 weeks. The babies must be lead bricks because the only places I've changed size/measurements is my belly and my bra cup size since my breasts have firmed back up from their deflated state.

Eek! I thought my youngest was a whopper at 9p 3oz! DH was a 10 pounder and I told him if we have a 10 pounder I'm coming after him lol. I don't think I could fit a 10 pound baby. My youngest was born via cesarean and they STILL had to use a vacuum to get him out because he was wedged in so tight that they could not get their hands in to get him out lol. A gest diabetes diet is strict but doable. Maybe if necessary allow yourself a treat you're craving here and there, that way you won't feel SO deprived but you'll still be mostly on par with your doc's orders. We need some carbs when preg, while complex is preferred it's not like baby is gonna gain a ton more weight because you ate a cupcake or something once a week. Also, small amounts WITH a protein won't raise your sugar as much so you won't get the shoot up and then crash in your blood sugar levels
So, eat a bite or two of something you're craving with dinner(a meat perhaps) or something. Not ideal when cravings seem to be endless but it's a thought.
