Yes it's the same test I believe!

Ok has anyone's toddler ever had slapped cheek disease? I'm really worried my toddler has got it. One of his cheeks has got some red blobs on that have intensified in colour as the day has gone on, also a few blobs on his chin... Is this how it starts does anyone know? Obviously it's potentially very dangerous in pregnancy so I'm quite worried!

3boys-so after you get the blood results which will be given to you Monday. Will you have to wait 7 more weeks for the anatomy scan to get confirmation of trisomys? 700 sounds crazy expensive. I totally think that's terrible it costs that much. Is there any other clinic that could offer something similar at a discounted rate if its bc of health risks? Forgive me for not being in the know of the NHS. Here in the states if you have markers that need to be looked at they have to give you the scan bc it puts a higher risk on mom and baby. I can't remember exactly what it's called but it costs 1/2 the price when the situation arises. Obviously they don't advertise it bc they don't want people taking advantage but this service is offered at my OBGYN office and its a standard office. He isn't a high risk doctor. So maybe your office might have this service but you have to know about and ask for it for them to give it to you. Hope that just made sense.

Grace-Congrats on your son!!! I totally understand your disappointment so don't feel alone! Of course he will be the apple of your eye when he is born but it stings right now and I totally understand! Vent here if you need to!

As for me, tomorrow is my 12 week appt! I am so nervouse and I just want them to find the HB quick! Please have a good Doppler dr office please!!! Today I had a play date for my youngest son and the mom and I both have 2 sons and she totally started talking about GD with her 2nd son and we totally talked it out and I told her about the LE diet and she was eating all the info up. It really felt good to be able to talk about it with someone. We both agreed this wouldn't t be discussed amongst anyone else and that we will both be grateful for healthy babies but I have to say I really enjoyed being able to talk about really wanting a daughter. She totally got it and said they would be trying in the fall for their third and she will be trying for a girl. It's so interesting how some people are put in your life at the right moment. I have really been struggling with hearing its a 3rd boy again and then being able to discuss it with someone else who totally has the same desire really felt really therapeutic. I just wanted to say that I think a desire for a certain gender is way more common than I once thought. And I am glad this forum exists. It's so important to be able to get things off your chest and have people listen so you don't feel so crazy! There's a lot to having a community and this is a great place.

I'm not sure they will call Monday! They said five working days and it was late Wednesday I had the bloods done. No soar i will not have to wait until 20 weeks if there is a problem I'm assuming I will have a meeting with the genetics counsellor this week or next and go from there. I will be offered the amino (probably regardless of the blood results as the NT was big) but it all depends on the blood tests whether I will consider it or not. I've had two miscarriages in a row and I know it has a miscarriage risk. I'm really worried about trisomy 13 and 18 (more so than 21) and just praying the bloods come back ok. Although 3.9 mm is high I have seen worse that turn out ok and have no genetic defects. But what I meant by having to wait for the anomaly scan is that lots of heart defects can't be picked up until 20 weeks so even if the results are ok for the trisomy's I won't be completely out of the woods. Hope this makes sense a bit??? I don't have any real answers and limited information just second guessing everything right now.

sorry to jump in girls - 3boys my nucuael with ds3 was 3.9 they weren't worried they said it wasn't that high and with my age and lack of history he'd be fine - bloods came back low risk and i heard nothing more of it, he's fine. That is part of the reason i chose a cvs with this one - i'd looked into it more after his birth when someone passed a comment about it and realised it was really quite high but at the time no-one seemed too bothered with it. He had a funny nose too which i think can be another marker (wide nose) and when he came out he looked like a boxer it was that thick but it settled soon after birth. Really hope things work out for you

Thanks Mrs P that's given me some hope. I have found lots of encouraging story's and don't think we can make any assumptions until the blood results are in. They said at my hospital that it used to be up to 3mm that was considered ok (this would only put my 0.9 over that!) but they have changed it in the last year to be 2.5mm as things were being missed but I happen to know at most hospitals 3mm is still ok.

I don't think it was handled very well at the hospital and that in itself made me come away feeling worse! Why are doctors always so pessimistic!

I was told 3mm was the cut off but my age and other factors would bring the risks down and that it wasn't that high enough to be concerned about

Grace-sorry you didn't hear girl. It's ok to be disappointed. Even though health is most important all of us have a desire for a certain gender. Take some time for yourself-maybe a little retail therapy I agree that it's not fair at all that some people get both genders without trying at all! God has a reason he sent this sweet baby boy to you!

Soar - That's great that you were able to vent to someone! Of my close friends (here, not back home), they all have at least 1 girl. I have two other friends with 2 boys each, but they are happy to be done. Most of my friends back home have at least 1 girl as well. In fact, several had 2 boys, then a girl! My sister and another friend back home have 3 boys, and while I know my sister wanted a girl and still has "twinges" as she calls it, she has moved on with her life and is enjoying them very much. The friend is perfectly happy with her 3 boys, and has said she doesn't feel like she's missing out on anything. Soooo....I don't really feel like there's anyone in my boat that I can really express my GD to. So this site has been awesome! So happy you were able to get some of those feelings out. Excited for your scan tomorrow! Are you planning to post a nub shot??

3boys - Sounds like you're maybe feeling somewhat better now...I know you are still in limbo, but I am glad you are reading some reassuring stories. Praying for perfect health for that sweet little baby of yours!
Mommy to 4 precious little boys, would love a , but more also welcome!
