    Advice please

    Hi all

This may seem like a bizarre post but am after anybodies experience with an amniocentesis. I have had all my testing done for my pregnancy thus far and they have come back great, the 12 week scan has however left a touch of doubt in my mind. My brother had a chromosome defect, due to a random mutation developed from my mothers egg, this chromosome defect is not passed on as far as we know. As mentioned the 12 week scan had some distinct similar features that my brother had. I have had another scan and there is still no concern and I have been told to wait for my 20 week scan. The logically part of me says it's in my head but growing up with my brother and then loosing him in his 20's really breaks my heart. My husband is supportive but is worried about the risk of the amnio and is it worth it?

Just after advice of anyone who has had these feelings or had the amnio, would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes I feel like my logic is blurred but I can't shake this.

    TIA

If you have had the testing for the pregnancy and everything came back normal, I strongly recommend against it. I know of two ladies on this site who did lose babies after amnios. My doctor told me that virtually all chromosomal defects are visible on ultrasounds which have improved greatly in those years since.

If you tell me the features I can give you more information.

I'm sorry you lost your brother.
