Thread: Boy moms and periods

Yeah I wonder if it’s the body replenishing lost nutrient / micronutrient stores by then or that most moms have nearly weaned by then? Or is it something else that clicks at 18 months? Can it be overridden with diet? Is it like dropping from 80% at 18months to 50% at 12 months? Or more like a bonus? I don’t know

18 months isn't a magic number, nor is 12 months. There is no "80%" or "50%". I have to pick a number, so I pick an easy-to-remember number like 12 or 18 months. What I'm trying to express by this number is that over the course of time, people's bodies recover more and more from having given birth and eventually even if they were nursing still, their cycle would come back again and they'd be able to get pregnant in most cases quite easily; the hormones from birth and/or breastfeeding have either entirely or mostly gone away and their cycle is normal once more.
This happens at a different pace for everyone after every conception. It has to do with a LOT of different things. Diet, the amount you're nursing, how much exercise/sleep you get, if you've been sick a lot, how hard your birth experience was, how many kids you've had in a row, if you have a chronic underlying condition, etc. So it's not some hard and fast rate that everyone is susceptible to; it can be an entirely different rate of recovery for the same person at different points in time.!!! Our sway didn’t work for #3 & we had a little oops for #4 but we love them all to bits... not sure if we ever will but somehow hoping we might add blue to the crew, to complete our family, one day...
Fingers crossed for TTC #5 (again) for early 2024!

I am wondering if the 18 months is bc there’s been several cycles since birth or the 18 months is just sheer time. Meaning, if someone had 8 cycles but was only 12 months pp would that be more boy friendly than someone who had 2 cycles but is 18m pp?

It is just what I feel is an easy to recall, "even number" amount of time that indicates people have had enough time to fully recover from birth and the baby days. It's not just based on information I've read but on my own experience where I really felt like something "magic" happened around that point with all five kiddos, and I've talked to other people who felt the same.
It is NOT the number of cycles a person has. That doesn't enter into my mathquation! I do not feel 12 months is enough time as many of us are still experiencing a lot of symptoms of reduced condition at the 12 month mark.!!! Questions?? Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Ok bc I’m panicking that I’m not cycling yet and getting some handle on when ovulation is and 18 months is fast approaching! Well, not fast enough! But my baby is getting those back molars in and decided to pick up some nursings at night so that’ll postpone ovulation even more. Probably for the best bc if I was cycling I would be so so so tempted to jump the gun and do an attempt!
Blood / hormone results come in next week so interesting to see what’s going on under there.

I successfully had my girl nearly 3 years ago thanks to an awesome plan from atomic. I have just started on Ozempic to try and lose some weight due to PCOS and it’s working well. Does anyone...
