can i start vitex and saw palmetto whilst on the pill?

Hi I'm ttc a girl in Dec, iv got 3 boys and this is my last chance to try for a girl as dh wont go for a 5th, anyhow my question is can i take vitex and saw palmetto whilst I'm on the pill? I know it can maybe stop the pill working but apart from that is it safe to do this and would it help my sway to take both? If I can't take them all at the same time which would sway more sp and vitex or the mini pill? Thank-you in advance for anyone who can advise me! x

I think you only need to take it for 6 weeks before your sway but hopefully someone here will pipe in soon. When do u plan to come off th pill as you know your cycles could take a while to return so u may be best coming off it sooner and using an alternative method of contraception like a condom so u can monitor your cycles better and get an idea of when you will Ovulate -t his might make help make sure you get pregnant quicker ? Just my thoughts. x

I don't think its necessary to start supps while on the pill. I would wait until you are off the pill to start them

Hi the reason I'm asking the above question is because iv read that the pill can sway girl and if i cant take sp and vitex whilst on the pill would it be best to get pregnant as soon as possible after iv stopped taking the pill or should I stop the pill then take sp and vitex for six weeks before my attempt? Which would sway more? But if its safe to take the contraceptive pill and sp and vitex all at the same I would continue on the pill take all 3 for 6 weeks then come off the pill and try to get pregnant as quick as i can!? Oh sorry also I always when I'm not on the contraceptive pill Ovulate on day 17 of my cycle and it was like this when I conceived all 3 of my boys so I thought it would be best to conceive before my cycles go back to normal?

I personally wouldn't rely on the pill to sway girl.. Yes it can help some but I think the diet is the most important. I know people who got pregnant while On the pill and had boys. Also for me when I get off the pill my cycles are crazy for a month or two so it is hard to pin point ovulation. How do you plan on figuring out when you are ovulating?

NO!! Saw palmetto can make the pill stop working and it's just generally a bad idea because we don't know how it would affect you. Stop the pill, TTC that first month without herbs, and if BFN you can start the herbs month 2.

I think it's best to conceive as soon as you can coming off the pill. I do not have evidence to prove one sways harder than the otehr, but the hormonal effects of the pill are much much stronger than vitex + saw palmetto.

wow! haven´t seen it! I was asking something like that in another thread.
I figure that pill or minipill (maybe better) could sway A LOT, if it´s combined with other sway tactics... And I´m seriosly thinking about take it instead of vitex and SP (atomic, really can´t we take them, although we don´t use the mini pill as a birth control???) + LE diet + baby aspirin + abstinence/compressed frequent release.... Let´s see what I decide at the end, because I change my sway plan a lot LOL...

Ovulation and conception is a very delicate balance of hormones and anything that messes those hormones up, can disrupt the entire process. People have been unable to conceive for years after coming off BCP. I don't have any reliable info about mixing vitex or SP with BCP, so I don't feel good about anyone taking them together. I don't want anyone to interfere with their ovulation because it can take a long time to fix.
